Soarin' taking shape in Epcot

Can't wait to ride this one!! :bounce: Thanks for the link Dan!!

Having ridden on "Soarin' Over California" at CA last year, I can tell you, this is one very cool ride . . .

(but I will still miss "Food Rocks . . . :( )

I'm really looking forward to this attraction too. From what I've read about Soarin' Over California, it sounds like a ride that I would enjoy and that I could handle (I'm way too big of a weenie for Mission:Space!).

Ok call me stupid but, I've never been to Disneyland and I'm sort of clueless as to what the ride is, even though I've read some discriptions. I'm under the impression that it's simulating a ride on something like a hang glider over california, but does anyone know what the 'room' is like? Do you actually sit on something similar, or is it a big theater like an imax theater, and you just sit in regular seats? Thanks for the info.

tricia.

Hey Dan

Thanks for the pics. They're grrreat!(in Tony the Tiger voice)

Thanks Dan! We saw the Soarin' signs in the Land last night, but I didn't realize how much construction was going on out back! WOW!

I really like Soarin'. Poor DS though...not a great ride for 4 yr olds he only liked it when the fireworks went off!

Whats this one going to be, anyone know? Soarin' over America?

battricia, we did Soarin' 3 years ago, so my memory of it isn't great. But you go into a large room, and there are 3 rows of seats on two sides of the "theater". When everyone is settled in, the 3 rows lift up off the ground, until the front row is the highest, then the 2nd row below it, and the 3rd row below that. The 1st row is "supposed to be" best, because those people have a clear view of the screen, without dangling feet. We were in row 2 or 3, and it was fine.

The images start on the screen...picture the film in the French pavilion...except all the seats move in a motion that creates the feeling/appearance that you're flying over these sites. There are scents too...I seem to recall the scent of oranges while flying over orange groves. I love the ending, but won't tell you what it is. It's probably somewhere on the Internet.

Hmmm. I am totally out of the loop. I didn't know it was taking over Food Rocks' spot. I will miss it. :(

You guys are going to love SOC:Pinkbounc DW and I did the attraction twice at DL last about 3 months ago. This attraction is of a much higher caliber than Food Rocks or Kitchen Kabaret(which we loved). It has a thrill factor, but there is nothing extreme about it. I think it's top 10 in all of Disney:earsboy:

That's so great that they're bringing Soarin' to WDW. As posted here before, this ride is great! It has a very realistic feeling ot it and it is absolutely amazing!

Thanks for the link Dan!! I can't wait to see this one, although I should get a chance to try Soarin' in DCA this summer! I remember seeing the crane from the construction in Dec and didn't realize (at first) that is what it was for!

Thanks for the info and pictures! can't wait to ride it :)

tricia.

:D

I can't wait to go on this whenever I go back. Shouldn't it be Soarin' Over Florida, instead? Just an idea.
