Soarin' questions: Do heels count for height & how scary?

Go first thing in the morning! make it the first ride you do at rope drop. We are taller in the morning before the spine compresses as the day goes on.

Yes!!! All these great tips to maximize every single centimeter, lol. Thank you!

That's awesome! We kinda do the same thing. ;) But, beets?! What kid eats beets?! Lol! I generally give DD a choice: Would you like salad or cucumbers? She loves salad, and broccoli, and more, and doesn't generally have a hard time eating them, but we do it at every meal and certainly sometimes she would rather not. pirate:

I did at 7! And it was thanks to the old Nickelodeon cartoon Doug. He described them as "nature's candy" and that was enough to convince me, lol. :rotfl:

My three year old was turned away last year and was heart-broken!! However, somehow he met the height requirement for Splash Mountain?? We aren't even going to bother testing them this time unless he is for sure over 40 inches. That disappointment for him still makes me so sad.

But no, Soarin' is not scary.

Like others said, not scary. My twins loved it the first time they rode it, it is still their favorite ride. They were not tall enough until 4 (Almost 5! :scared1:) though.

I do think being turned away is tough. Not that long ago DS was tall enough for jumping jellyfish (Dumbest ride ever) and his sister was not. She was crushed. She finally got to go on it this year and realized how silly it was that she was upset. In her words as a 6 year old, "that was boring". :rotfl2:

Why do beets have such a bad rap. They are delicious. They are sweet like cooked carrots.
Boil til tender- drain - add butter salt and pepper one of my favs. We have them in the fridge right now

I resisted beets when I was very small because Mom always put vinegar on them, and I thought the vinegar was part of the beet flavor. Once I got a taste of them without the vinegar, I was hooked.

My niece eats them straight out of the can. Since she was 5 she's been getting the can out of the pantry, popping it in the electric can opener, grabbing a fork, and chowing down.

Maybe all that hanging her upside down by her ankles when she was little *did* cause damage. :rotfl2:

See? This is nice... A thread that gets off topic but doesn't turn into a fight. Just some nice calm people talking about beets.

Me too! My parents always ate pickled beets from a jar. Gross. So I avoided beets like the plague.

Just a few years ago I had a salad at a restaurant that had roasted beets on it, and WOW! I'm now a life long fan. I cube them up, sprinkle with a little olive oil and s&p, bake for about 15-20 minutes. Manna from heaven right there.
