Soarin' -- is it good for kids?

I have a 7 year old and a 5 year old. My 7 year old is quite adventurous and loves kiddie rollercoasters. I was wondering if Soarin' is something she may like. I've never been on Soarin' -- it's been a number of years since I went. I do know she would not like Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain is "iffy" -- she goes on a log ride at our local amusement park and loves it, but it's more like 2 stories high as opposed to 5.

So do you think Soarin' is a possibility, or is it just too much for this age group?

Thanks!

Soarin' is AMAZING!!! We ALL love it and DD and I are NOT rollercoaster people AT ALL. It is a beautiful film and it should NOT be missed. Just get your Fastpasses as soon as you get to EPCOT that morning to ensure that you will not have to wait in long lines.:thumbsup2

My 4.5 year old rode it a couple months ago. It was her first "big girl" ride. She said it was a little scary but she smiled the whole time.

Absolutely. It's not a rollercoaster- you go up in the air (if you're worried about being too high, request the last row), watch a movie while gently rocking, and then return to the ground.

Nothing at all scary. Your 5 year old should love it. (I'm scared of heights, but it doesn't bother me a bit. You can't tell you are up high.) GREAT ride!

Both your 7yo and your 5yo will like it. I'd describe it as a gentle ride. It isn't like a roller coaster with large hills. The only problem would be if either of your kids has a fear of heights. I have a mild fear of heights and was a little nervous the first time I rode it, but loved it and have ridden it many times since.

My dd had just turned 4 when we went last time. She loved Soarin' and it's the thing she is looking forward to most this time. The drop on Splash Mountain didn't bother her last time it was the story of Bre'r Rabbit that scared her. If the ride had just had the drop she would have loved it.

DD(5) has been riding soarin since she was 3 and she loves it. She is not a thrill ride kid either- she has tried Big Thunder and Splash, and I don't know if I will ever get her on either one again. The first time on Soarin, I told her she would be flying like Peter Pan, and she immediately wanted to try it. Afterwards, she told me I was completely wrong and that we were flying like Diego, because we were using a hang glider. I think both your kids will probably like it.

my five year old enjoyed it a lot, as did we all. And i didnt go on it last time because i didnt know what it was like so i was freaked out. Its a must do for our next trip so i am sure your kids would love it

It depends on the kid.. sounds like your little one will handle it fine! My dd11 has ridden it multiple times since she was small.. but dd17? notachance. She HATES it. DH wont ride it either.

My kids LOVE Soarin.
But they love all rides.... my youngest is counting down until she can do Rock N Roller coaster. Only a few inches to go :P

My daughter was 5 1/2 last summer and rode it for the first time and LOVED IT! If you think she may be afraid, you can ask to be seated in the row that is lowest to the floor - that might help.

My oldest (12) thinks it is boring??? My youngest (10) is a wimp when it comes to rides (no way does she do ToT or RnR). But, she loves Soarin'. It is fantastic in my book. I wish they would build another one to lesson the lines so I could ride more often.

My DD (4 at the time) loved it until....

SPOILER re: the show......

The fireworks at the end. She is still terrified of the loud noises and that ruined the ride for her.

I don't see any reason why a small child wouldn't love Soarin'. Just make sure you're not taking a child on Soarin' if they are:

(1) Afraid of Heights
(2) Get Motion Sickness

Also, remember to keep those shoes on tight, or leave them on the floor. :thumbsup2

My 4 1/2 year old grandson rode it 5 times in a row. It was his first ride at disney.

My 6yo loved it so I hope your two do as well

I was a little taken aback by the height - but as long as I didnt look down it was fine - and I loved the ride too!

Cant wait to ride it again!
