I have been trying to decribe this attraction to my mother and she is trying to decide if she wants to try it or not. I think she would love it if she would give it a shot!
Does anyone have any idea (just an estimate) of how high off the ground you are actually raised up? This might help me out with her!

I think I heard somewhere that it's something like 40 feet. It's not far at all.

You kidding! not high at all? I get 10 feet of the ground and I start to shake...haha... im very afraid of heights. But I still think Im gonna give it a try! :earboy2:

I have not rode the Soarin' attraction at Epcot yet but have had an opportunity to ride it at DCA and I believe they are basically the same attraction. When you enter, you will see several rows of "gliders". Take a glider towards the back (if I recall correctly) as it will be lower then the gliders in the front. They get raised, one basically above the other. I think 40' sounds about right for the highest glider but you really wouldn't know how high you are as it is pretty dark and for all I knew, I could have been several inches off the ground and got the same effect.

Someone that has rode it at Epcot can probably confirm this.

Have fun!!!!

Someone on Debs site(Allears) said that if you are afraid of heights, to ask to be seated in the third row. The poster went on to say that the third row only went 10 feet off the ground.

Oh yeah..I forgot about that. The front row goes up the highest so sit in the back row.

Last row... Got it. Maybe I can "survey" it and see if I wanna try moving up a row each time. :teeth: It sounds too great to miss. I reallllly wanna ride it. I went on primevil whirl, and even the monorail makes me a lil "dizzy" even. Im a bit of an extreme case if you will.

Where the ground is isn't relevant. You can't see the ground when you are on the ride. Banks of seats lift off the ground at the same time.

You sit in your seat and can see the movie screen but not the ground.

It is exactly the same ride as the one in California adventure.

They are rumored to be making a new "world" film for the DW ride that will debut in 2006 sometime.

I have friends that are terrified of heights. They are distressed driving on roads with dropoffs. They loved the ride.

When they are loading you into rows before walking into the room for Soarin ask to be in the back row if you are afraid of heights. Once the lights go out you really don't realize how high you are in the front row.
