I have read in two different spots that the requirement is 40 in and then I read 42 in. My DD4 is 40 1/2 in. so I'm trying to figure out the requirement. Actually do you think this ride is appropriate for her age or should we skip it? Thanks

i believe the height rq. is 40 inches. I'm sure your daughter will love it. My little cousin, 3, loves the feeling of flying in a airplane. I highly recomend this ride. Hope you guys have fun! :thumbsup2

The height requirement is 40 in. DS was 40 1/2 inches in Dec and he rode it several times. We all loved this ride! Enjoy!

My niece is 40" and 5 years old, and rode Soarin in May and loved it. For people that are small and don't reach a height mark on their seat back there is an extra strap to go between their legs to hold them in better.

We got stuck on Soarin actually and got to ride it twice in a row and my niece loved that idea. What happened was when the seats were supposed to go back down they didn't. The top part lifted up and the announcement to unbuckle your seatbelts went off, but we were still airborn and hopefully our seatbelts were locked (I didn't try since we were up in the air). Finally they lowered us, but our seatbelts were locked so they let us ride it again to get the system back on track. If you really wanted out and not to ride again they manually undid your seat belt.

My daughter is 39 and a half inches tall--or she was last week at her check-up. I'm hoping she can ride when we go next week. How particular are the CMs at the ride?

ANY height requirement is for the safety of the Guest. You could have her practice standing VERY tall and straight, but with her heels still on the floor.

Our dd won't ride anything remotely "scary" and she rode Soarin when she was 3--two times in a row. I was the only one a little skiddish, since I'm afraid of heights. I was afraid my slide-on shoes were going to fall off!

At any ride, they have zero tolerance with height requirements in my experience.

My 4 yr old DS rode in April and loved it. My experience has been that they are very strict with the height requirement. Even when I thought my sons measured over 40" at home, they were turned away. We even made it through the first check one time and stood in line for over 40 minutes only to be turned away just before we boarded the ride. Apparently when they checked the second time, my DS was just under 40". I guess he slouched the second time.

Last fall my son was 3 1/2 and if he stood real straight just barely made 40 inches, the first time we tried to ride the guy at the entrance to the ride measured him and said no, a few days later we stood in line, no one at the front measuring and they never once checked his height, got on without problems. The restraint in the seat was fine for him and he loved it!

OK - I am an adult - but love Soarin, once you are 'air born'.

After you are bucked in, the lights go off - you are in darkness as your row is lifted into place. I close my eyes until I hear the music - and then I am up in the clouds :)

I am not exacly scared of heights - I do fly down to WDW.
But I do not like the lifting part - so eyes closed helps me a bit.
I even say a prayer at lift off and touch down on the plane (actual flight to and from WDW)

We just got back this weekend and my 4 year old DD (just turned 4 on Thursday) rode Soarin' twice during our visit. As long as they measure 40 inches with shoes on, they will make the height requirement. She measures about 40 1/2 - 41 inches with shoes on and the CM's measured her on every ride....in fact, if there was a CM who missed her going by, she would immediately get under the height stick and get their attention to prove she was tall enough! :sunny:

Note...she only liked Soarin' until the very end and did not care for the fireworks exploding "in her face" (on the screen).

ds5 is 42" and loved it!! I'm sure she would enjoy it. We had to go over and over!! :) Soarin' and Test track were his favorites!
