Soarin' Haters Anonymous

It's a nice ride. (probably in my top 5 of rides at WDW) I was underwhelmed though. It was short. Both me and my dad agreed it was too choppy and they should have stayed longer on each scene. I still think it's funny that it's soarin over california... in florida. Just seems weird to me.

I totally agree, and it feels so good to finally say it out loud!! I think it was overhyped for us as well because we had some really high expectations going in, and I thought it was cool, but not incredible like some described it in DL. Maybe if I weren't expecting it to be amazing, then I would have liked it more. I kind of felt like it was a big ad by the CA Tourism Board or something. I guess I thought it was going to have more of a story line to it with more a connection to Disney...

I liked soarin but I definitely wouldn't wait in the long lines for it. The line was about 80 - 90 minutes when I was there last week. The one thing I really liked about soarin was that anyone can ride it, there are no health cautions. My mom has back problems so the only things she can ride are the slow moving (aka boring) rides. I was so excited to actually see her smiling and enjoying a "thrill" ride when we went on it.

I can't believe I waited 90 minutes to ride it. We got fast-passes first, so we could ride back-to-back. After the first ride, we gave away our fast passes. It wasn't even worth the second ride!

You may dislike this ride regardless of the wait, but folkes, I've learned that the longer you wait, ON ANY RIDE the more disappointing it gets. Subconsciously I think most of our expectations rise by the minute when waiting in line, almost like we feel the attraction owes it to us to be more entertaining because we've waited a long time.

I refuse to wait more than 15=20 minutes for any attraction and I seem to really enjoy even the things I used to find boring.

Well, I feel the same way you do RyMickey!!! So you are not alone in the least!

DH and I were SO VERY EXCITED about riding this during our last trip to WDW. We arrived on the final day of passholder viewing. We waited not too long and when it was over, DH and I sat there swinging our legs asking "That's it???"

We were both bummed about it! Total hype, and not for the thrill seeker in us.

BUT! This is good news for us too, because there are SO MANY who adore this attraction and it helps take away from Test Track and MS! ;)

Wow, my family all loved Soarin'! We rode 5 x during our trip last month...but we utilize FP to the full extent and wouldn't wait for any attraction longer than 15 min...even my kids were flabergasted at all the other guests waiting in such long lines...

The only 2 things I hate about Soarin' are the lines and the fact that the ride doesn't last long enough!

My Dad called it "Snorin' over california" today...we liked it but, it was just funny how he did the play on words. :goodvibes

I agree but at least when waiting you are inside. Its a break from the hot summer days. When we see SplMountain or BTMR at 45 min wait we always bypass it.

I think Soarin' is just 'okay'. It was exactly what I expected, and yes - it was overhyped. It's great for people who don't like rides. Last (and only time) I rode it, the lady next to me was sooooo excited. She was hooting and hollering and going on and on and on about it after the ride ended. I couldn't help but thinking 'she mustn't get out much'.

I love Soarin' and wouldn't miss the ride for anything.

i think this is a good point an why i dislike Universal... everythig was a long wait (in off season) and lasted maybe 90 secs.
we always go off season so the waits are not a big problem...i just need to ignore the hype :rolleyes1

Well we are ones that had to wait in a long line for it. My friend and I went on a short girls trip in June and only had one half day for Epcot. Fastpasses were all gone but the time we got there in the late afternoon so we waiting 70 minutes to ride it. I wont wait that long again. We enjoyed it and it was okay but I cant say its one of my favorites. I would do it with a short wait or a fastpass but thats it.

When Disney's California Adventure opened I went on Soarin' and I enjoyed it but thought of it as a "D" ticket attraction. I took a lot of flack for that on a couple other message boards. Rememeber that "Soarin' was thought of as the best ride at DCA which tells you a lot about the other attractions there. I still ride Soarin because it is pleasent and I love the music and the lift off but when we go to WDW in December it will not be first on our list because two of the people going with us have never been to WDW before and HAVE done Soarin a few times. If there are no lines we will go or get Fast passes.

Other then a few small things, the experience of the ride is topnotch Disney stuff! Not since Tower Of Terror have I actually been excited after getting off the ride and wanting to get right back on! A+! I think people like it, look at the CONSISTENT lines it has all day long!

I haven't been on it yet, but I'm glad to be aware of the likely "overhyping" of the ride. I don't want this to turn into another Test Track for me. With all of the delays and setbacks in TT opening, by the time I rode it, it was sooo hyped up. I think it's a decent ride, but definitely didn't live up to the image I had formed in my mind.

On the other hand, at the time I experienced Turtle Talk with Crush, I hadn't heard much about it. Since I had no over-hyped expectations of it, I really enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. But now I guess I'm adding to the overhype of that attraction :confused3 .

I like Soarin' but my family has found that we use FP's when we can and usually will bypass long waits. We have gotten to where if the wait is over 40-50 min, forget it. We would rather go shopping or do something else.

We rode Soarin at DCA and I really enjoyed it. We were home on a visit since we are originally from CA. We used the single rider line there and were on in about 10 min.

When we rode it at Epcot, it was a chance to see CA again, someplace we all miss. For me, it's a quick trip home again.
