Soarin' alot of hype?

I loved Soarin', too, when we went in May (three times on a 3 day trip!) I think it also depends on your "thrillability" and I have a very LOW pleasure threshold! :rotfl2: I actually was crying when we got off the first time, I found it to be very emotional for me.

ALSO, my DD was a CM at the time and they ARE working on filming the Florida version to switch to after the HCOE. Another excuse to go back!

I think it is an amazing ride. We've been to DL 3 times and it's one of the highlights of DCA I was thrilled it came to Epcot.

We went in August- and rode a total of 4 times that week. Our family loved Soarin' ! :earsboy:

Soarin' is a very cool ride but I didn't walk away thinking that it felt like being really up there. Would have been nice if it was longer.
Is it a good ride for a 20-30 minute wait? Of course.
Would I have been thrilled with it if I had to wait 90 minutes in line - no, not unless it was a much longer ride.

The Disney TV channel at the hotel has the girl hosting the promo acting like it was the most incredible experience of her life.

We haven't been to Soarin' in Orlando, but did ride it at DCA several times on our Feb2004 trip. DH and I loved it, loved it, loved it. We rode multiple times on multiple days and are super excited about hitting it next May at Epcot.

It was so relaxing. A different kind of experience than any other at WDW. At the final soar over our favorite theme park, I teared up it was so moving to me.

But sometimes if you have to wait a super long time for anything, there is nothing that can meet your expectations. You're too tired and grouchy to enjoy it. Give it a try next time and see if you feel differently.

Wife loved it. I was kinda left saying, "So this is it?". The movie in the China pavillion makes me feel more like I am flying than Soarin' did... air lift not withstanding...

We waited over two hours to ride it in June, and although it was fun I would never again wait for that long to ride it! From now on if we can't get a FP we will move on to the next ride!

I wasn't as impressed with it as I thought I would be. Don't get me wrong, it is a cool ride and I would do it again but I liked other rides better.
I'm with you on this one! :flower:

We loved it!! We were there in May and waited no more than 20 minutes each the three times we rode it.

We were at Epcot on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Got into the park at 3:30 ish having spent the morning at MK. Went right to Soarin and got a FP for 5:00 which was about when we wanted to start heading back due to a dinner PS. 5:00 was perfect. DH loved the ride, unfortunately, the minute I saw the clouds looming over me my stomach took a lurch and I closed my eyes. I tried opening them and saw the snowcovered mountains - but lurchlurch, again. Bummer, I kept them closed the whole ride. I was worried the lurch would lose my lunch. When Dh noticed I wasn't watching he narrated the film. I did enjoy the wind and breeze and the smells of the pine forest. But unfortunately, I couldn't watch - I can't do 360 movies either. another bummer.

We loved it, too - but as others said, we never wait more than 30 minutes for anything, and usually grab a fast pass when the ride is thirty minutes (I understand the OP didn't have a fastpass option is this case).

But Soarin' was wonderful. DH skipped it the first morning we went to Epcot (waited about 15 minutes) because he doesn't like heights, but we talked him into it later in the week. Like ZAK'S MOM, he didn't like the clouds at the beginning, but then he relaxed and enjoyed it.

I think it depends on what kind of a rider you are. I'm kind of a ride chicken, so something like Soarin' thrills me. But if you like ToT and RRC, Soarin' may seem boring, I guess.

That's kind of how I felt. I really did enjoy the ride at DCA, but I was kind of thinking it was going to be something "more" than a movie-type ride, I don't know why. :)

But my bigger disappointment came with Mission Space. I thought that ride was SUPER hyped, and was a huge letdown.

When I rode this at DCA I thought it was just about everything Disney does best. My ride wait limit is 30 minutes MAX, and that would be for something I hadn't done before. :earsboy:

Just got back from 10 glorious days and we waited 1 hour and 20 minutes because there was no fast pass for Soarin on EMH nights. I mean it was alright but really not worth all the hype? Any additional thoughts?

Well, we rode this for the first time during our June 2005 trip. We used FP and thought it was a great experiance. I don't know if my perception would have been different if I had waited for almost an hour and a half but I would say it did live up to the hype as far as my husband and I are concerned.

Put us in the "love it, love it, love it" category. However, an hour's usually our limit on anything. (However, I miiiiiight wait a bit more if creme brulee was involved!)
