Thinking about going to Soap Opera Bistro, but I keep reading mixed reviews. Sounds like the food isn't too good, but the atmosphere is greate. Any opinions? Can anyone recommend a good meal here? How are the portion sizes?

Is the menu the same for lunch and dinner? Is there a children's menu?

I have also seen suggestions to go for dessert rather than a meal. Specifically, I read recommendations about the dessert fondue. Can you describe the fondue? What was the price? Do you order one for each person or is it something you share? Is there a $$ minimum that must be spent here?

Do you know if you can request a certain section - ie Pine Valley or General Hospital?

Wow - I didn't know I had so many questions...
Thanks for the help!!

I was just there last week. It's probably the best sit-down place in the park. We also did the character lunch at Avalon Cove -- great character interaction but awful food.

Back to SOB, it was empty when we went for lunch. We took a quick walk-around and asked to be seated in the Kelly's Bar area. Lunch entrees ran about $10. There is a children's menu. Don't know if the lunch menu is different from the dinner menu but I doubt it because the lunch menu is so elaborate. The meny is a huge photo album.

We had a vegetarian pasta dish with a creamy sauce, and a bbq chicken pizza and salad combo. The food was pretty tasty. Portion sizes are average -- it'll should fill up the average person.

If you're expecting interaction like they have at MGM's 50's Prime Time Cafe, you'll be disappointed. At one point, the characters acted out a scene in our room. That was about it for soap opera atmosphere. Bottom line: I'd return for the food.

Good info beach bunny- Always nice to know when the food lives up to expectations.

MickeyMagic- This Restaurant had been on our passible trys for our September trip...Just recieved the DL trip planning video, and in a 5 second overveiw, I was in love. The discription of this place in no way prepared me for what this looks like inside! This rose quickly to a must try for us, eagerly aticipated by 13yo son and father alike. (I feel the need to stress we are NOT soap fans, but loved the campy detail)

Can't wait to try it, but of course, this is only theory... :)

I haven't eaten here myself, but know some people who did and it sounded like they had a lot of character interaction. I know they were making a big fuss about one of the guys and calling him Dr. Manhunk. I wonder if this is one of those places where it depends on who's working whether or not they play it up big or not. I would think the fun would be in the CM's hamming it up with the guests.

My friend is a CM at the Bistro. He has suggested that we just have dessert there, as he doesn't think the food is worth the price. We haven't done it yet, but I can say that should you want to eat before the dessert at the Bistro, Award Weiners across the street is excellent! I had a bite of a friend's Ceasar dog and it was wonderful!
