It is mainly a holiday. Just a lot of other 'stuff' lingering so we are trying for relaxed. If you think of anything specific worth seeing I'm all ears. But I'm not sure I'm up for traipsing around tooooo much...

For New Year's dinner (monday) I just bought stuff today for Yee Sang - a heap of pickled stuff and I need to add raw salmon, carrots, pea shoots and probably some turnip. I'm hoping that mum will have a steamed fish...although now that I think about it, highly unlikely. There will probably be roast pork...both the BBQ and the crackling skin variety.

For New Year's Eve dinner, mum will be doing a steam boat.

I have high hopes for food porn this weekend.

Turnip cake? You get that at Yum Cha or Dim Sum on a daily basis. And yes, I eat it. Not my favourite; but if someone else wanted it, I'd partake in a little bit.

Chinese New Year cake, or neen koh (nian gao), is the special new year cake. I'll probably get a little one as a cake from my mother. She gives me some every year.

We spent more time in the Lakes District and then stayed with an aunt in Birmingham. Spent a lot of time catching up with her, rather than sightseeing.

So aside from Stratford on Avon, we really didn't do the Midlands justice.

We did spend time in Wales, after Birmingham.

But there is just so much to see and all those little villages everywhere in the UK. I don't think you'll be lacking.

Law Pak Koh....Where would you buy it in Sydney? I know they sell it in Springvale and in Footscray here; its even pretty good in Springvale.

Yes, that is turnip cake. Not particularly so...but that's only because I know you can get it for Dim Sum anytime you want.

Not sure if Tomic is up to beating Federer. I think Federer could possibly stomp all over him....if anything, it might be a good test to see if Tomic is contender or pretender.
