So worried about my flight on Thursday!

Will My Thursday 8:00 am flight out of Detroit (DTW) be canceled? There are already several flights canceled for tomorrow. The snow is supposed to be MOSTLY over by mid morning on Wednesday, and totally done by late wed afternoon. Will the runways be clear? Will all the folks from the canceled flights be able to bump me? I am SOOOOO nervous!!!!! I want to go to WDW!

How is it there now? Could you move your flight up a day - I'd think it would be easy to find a room for the night in Orlando. Just a thought. I think you'll be ok though. Just show up early enough and get your boarding passes, or check in online if you can. Try calling your Airline and see what they suggest.

It's looking like it will be all cleared out by Thursday AM, just gotta hope for the best! The problem might be the airlines trying to get everyone whose flights were cancelled on new flights.

Good call. That's how I see it. I think your flight will get out the question is how busy will the airport be trying to get caught up. The runways will be very busy.

You *should* be OK. They're going to be cleaning off those runways as quickly as they can. That's not to say the flight not be delayed or something. Keep an eye on it.

Give yourself PLENTY of time to get to the airport and through security, and be REALLY EARLY for your flight. Don't give them any excuse to bump you from your flight. As long as the flight doesn't get canceled, they normally won't bump people already checked in for a flight, unless you give them a reason. Be sure & check in online as early as you can, so they know you plan to come.

Also be sure and check before you leave for the airport to find out the status of your flight.

ugggg now the question is... should we driveto the airport tonight to ensure that we will at least be there? I am concerned that if we really get as much as they are saying than we won't even be able to get on the roads... so we are thinking of checking into the westin at the airport tonight and tomorrow night. ugggg Usually I LOVE snow storms!

If you can do that, can you possibly get on a flight tonight? We're not supposed to get the really big snow until after midnight, so things seem to be going along at DTW now.

I think the roads are going to be a mess tomorrow, but this is Michigan and we can handle the snow! Crossing my fingers for you.

The Michigan legislature has cancelled session and committee meetings for tomorrow and Thursday. We don't even have any flurries yet.

i called my sister to see if she was snowed in and she said the snow hadn't even started yet...
but she said the post office called today to see if her office wants the mail delivered tomorrow because so many offices have already said they would be closed tomorrow for the snow....
i said, what? since when have detroiters wimped out like that? closing offices before there's even one flake on the ground????????????

I would like to do that, but the problem is that I am working today in Grand Rapids untill 5:30 or 6. I am not packed because my husband thought he was going to have to work tomorrow (with the legislature) but since they canceled, we can leave today. I don't see where I could leave Lansing earlier than 7:30 or 8. Then I have to drive to Ann Arbor to drop off the dog. I wouldn't get to the airport before 9:30 or 10:00 and the last flight (which is full) is at 10:45.... I don't think it will work...

I do think we are going to at least head in the direction of detroit though. we might stay at my parent's in A2 or the hotel at the airport, I think it is more likely that we will have trouble getting out of lansing than getting out of the airport quite frankly.

Some good news possibly....They are saying the storm is moving a little faster than originally thought.

It started snowing here around 5pm tonight with all the mean stuff coming overnight. The storm is supposed to be over by early Wednesday evening here so in Detroit not long after, especially as fast as this storm is moving.

Detroit Metro is used to this stuff. By Thursday you should be ok.

So GREAT news! We did go to ann arbor last night, which was good because they got a lot less snow than Lansing. Today we headed to the airport and checked into the Westin around 3:30. They were sending flights so we asked if we could get on an earlier flight, and we were in luck!

We called member services and booked a room at kidani village, changed our car rental and got on a plane!

I am typing this from kidani now! So not only did my flight not get canceled we left early! AND the flight was empty so we were upgraded and then we got an upgrade at Alamo!

I ulitimatly thank the blizzard of 2011 for my great fortune!
