That's gotta mean they plan to resume sales at WDW fairly soon, right? Clearly the lawsuit thing isn't a problem as many theorized, and they're not doing away with AP sales forever as many others theorized. I don't see how DL would have them, and not WDW for very long.

Scott Gustin was told by Disney they don't anticipate resuming sales at WDW before the end of the year, but I'm thinking definitely before the Spring Break (extra) busy season. Thoughts? Predictions?

Scott is a great follow on Twitter for Disney info btw, always early and accurate, and doesn't sensationalize too much.

I wouldn't count on it.

Disneyland is a different animal.

My guess is that Disneyland is NOT seeing the levels of day ticket sales NOR Genie+ sales that they want to see, and they need a reliable revenue generator for the quarter. MK sales will give them what they want in the short term.

Fair point, but the optics of selling them at DL and not WDW won’t fly for long I don’t think. Will be interesting to see how they handle it.

Well, Disneyland resumed sales of passes almost immediately after the long closure (within a few months). WDW new pass sales have been suspended for a LONG time now.

I'm with you here. This move seems to completely disprove the theory that lack of AP sales had anything to do with the pending lawsuit.

That said, I agree with others that WDW and DL are different animals. Still, there's daily speculation that WDW attendance is being impacted by the economy, people's hate for Chapek, Disney's social policies, "they've out-priced the middle class!", etc. *IF* there's any truth to that, it seems like only a matter of time before WDW will be forced to sell APs to help boost attendance.

If they don't resume selling WDW APs, it suggests to me that there are still enough people willing to vacation on MYW tickets to keep the parks flush. Time will tell...

I think its certainly a step in the right direction that WDW AP's will be for sale at some point down the line. While I know DL is different, I think having AP's at one and not at the other doesn't make much sense.

Given that attendance does seem to be behind their decisions regarding passes vs. MYW tickets, we may see each take on their own schedule for when they are offered and then suspended.

I definitely agree that this move tells you they plan to have some level of AP at the parks moving forward....

Rumor I have heard was Bob wants to capitalize on WDW 50th ticket sales. So when they are done with the 50th in March of 2023, they probably will return for a short time. Not sure how reliable the rumor was, I didn’t get it from a bus driver at WDW.

I don't think Wdw cares what DL is doing. Nor do they care what we think.
I'm as cynical as the next guy, but optics do matter to some degree. Probably less than they used to, for sure. If they didn't, Disney wouldn't have a huge PR department spinning BS corporate excuses every time they want to screw us lol

If they hate APs as much as we think, and they don't care about backlash, they'd just never bring them back. But clearly they are.

We were at EPCOT today. It was NOT busy at all. Ride line for Remy was 55 minutes and we were chatting with a mother/adult daughter in town for the realtor convention. Mom was disappointed in what she saw as a declining park. Next year is my 50th year at WDW and I was at EPCOT soon after it opened. It looked degraded from our May/June and October/November recent trips.

They were on the fence about coming back as it just wasn't what they remembered or expected. Money was obviously not an issue. I overheard people complaining about food prices. The grounds did not sparkle, in fact the pavement was gross pretty much everywhere.

From what I observed, people there were not feeling *magical*. We'll be back tomorrow and see if things look different. We are AP owners and DVC (1996) and we see the decline. IMO AP owners will be necessary to *fill the gap* in attendance. Time will tell...

2 Questions about Sorcerer pass... It says it's only available to FL residents and DVC members. Does this include DVC-N members? (or at least has it in the past?). Second, if we decide we want to go at Christmas (blackout period) could we upgrade to Incredipass before our renewal date or would we just have to buy separate tickets?
(**all of this with the understanding APs are WDW are not currently available and this question is dependent on APs for WDW returning)

Only those eligible for membership perks…DVC Y…are eligible for the Sorcerer.

Now, in 2021 when they came out, there were owners who got sold the pass by mistake but they tightened that up within a few months and there were several reports of people who went to activate them and could not because they were not eligible.

I have also read reports that peoole who got them by mistake were not allowed to renew and had to upgrade to the Incredi Pass

Makes sense. I guess I'll just have to take part of my $25k in resale savings and spend the extra $450 for IncrediPass. :P

To be fair, some of them lasted almost two days.

...which I suppose also lessens the downside of bad optics. If you blinked, you missed it.

Don't get too excited, DL resumed Magic Key sales for ONE day. If and when WDW starts up again, be prepared to act fast!
Yeah the whole situation is so bizarre. We don't even buy APs and they way they are handling it frustrates me

The set of people who pay attention to both coasts is very very small. Most people east of the Mississippi don’t really know much about Disneyland other than “it exists.”

DIS is an exception of course, but DISers do not represent anything like the typical guest.
But the set of people anxiously awaiting the return of WDW APs have probably all seen the sales at DL resume. So yes, I agree that the amount of east coast people paying attention to what DL does is small, but I guarantee that all who want APs have paid attention to the resumption of DL sales. I am one of them. I could care less what DL does and ignore 99% of DL news but I sure paid attention the past 2 days!
