So Why Does Everyone Say POP is Better than AllStars?

I have stayed at the All Star Movies and loved it!! Great staff, food, etc.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Stayed at Pop in 2004 and won't stay there again. :sad2: One of the worst stays I have ever had. Mousekeeping was barely exisisting (found trash under the beds when we checked in. Called to mention it and when we returned to the room the next day, the trash was still there.), found the food nasty  in the foodcourt and encountered some pretty rude CM's.:headache:

Too bad that you had those problems at Pop. We never had any problems like that. I will say that I have heard that same complaint about just about every resort at WDW at one time or another.

I guess our times vary.

Either way the bus rides are really quite short from any of the resorts.

The buses should be even more efficient from any of the resorts come this fall.

from this website:

Big changes coming to the Disney bus fleet. The buses are being outfitted with GPS units which will become operational in April, 2007. The buses will have automatic Guest counters to track ridership. The bus marquee will automatically update indicating where its traveling to. Remote cameras will be installed to monitor the busier loading zones in order to better respond to Guest demand.

....
Regardless.. this will all be changing with the new GPS dynamic bus routing. No bus will be 'dedicated' to anything. They'll all be routed and scheduled dynamically based on need at that exact point in time.

That new bus routing system is due to be implemented in phases this year. Most of it should be in place by the fall.

Basically it's a GPS system that will track all buses (and number of guests aboard) at all times.. in coordination with a computerized routing and scheduling system that works 'on the fly'.

We are considering POP for a family trip in 2008. The POP rooms sizes are the same as the All Star Resorts, right? Do you think 4 grown-ups in one of their rooms going to be too small?

Just back two days ago from 6 nights at POP. In 2005 we stayed a week at ASMu. To me, it was six of one, half dozen of another. They are VALUE resorts and there's a reason they are called that. The themeing is over the top on the outside of the buildings, but inside the room - well, it's your basic Motel 6, sans the coffee maker. We stayed at these resorts because we wanted to purchase the dining plan and we were on a tight budget. Next time we'll save longer, and stay somewhere else.

OK all you Pop people just keep on thinking we share the buses and the All Stars LOL. On our 12 day trip we just came back from we shared I think 2 times and that was to DTD. In the end I think it's just what people are used to and those that usually stay at Pop are more vocal about it. But the All Stars are just as good IMO. We had no trouble with Buses at all.

I have stayed at Pop Century and All-Star Sports and am not recommending one over the other, but although Pop Century does not ever share buses with another resort,Pop Century is a four story resort while the All-Stars are three story resorts;therefore there are more Guests using their buses than are using any individual All-Star's buses.:)

I have stayed at POP, ASMo and ASSports, and my favorite was POP. I really like their food court and theming. We are staying at ASMu in December for the first time and I am excited about the rehabbed rooms. You can't really go wrong with any of them.

I think it is all about personal likes/dislikes.... I have stayed at all three All Stars numerous times, and POP once. Let me say first, that these are the advantages people seem to perceive POP as having: 1. Newer, 2. No bus sharing, 3. Some areas have a view of Illuminations.

That said, I much much much prefer All Stars, but only for personal reasons. The decor of POP just seriously bothers me. Way too bright, way too tacky. I feel like I am in Vegas, not WDW. But again, I know tons of people totally disagree...That is what makes WDWD great - something for everyone!

And also, I found transportation to be more or less the same at both. It depends more on the time of year you are there than anything else. And I do also prefer the food courts at All Stars....

And all that said, I would really just prefer the Poly to all of these! Ha!!!
