So who's driving down between 12/17 and 1/2?

Just wondering, we did it last Christmas from Chicago and had great weather and conditions both ways...well, 'till Tennessee on the return...then all just got greyer and browner and colder from then on...sigh. We are locked into airfare and want to change it but the penalty is HAR$H! We wish we had decided to drive again because the flexibility is so nice. Anyone else?

We are driving for the first time!!! We leave 12/17 from Michigan and will arrive on the 18th. There's going to be 7 of us (4 adults and 3 kids, 13, 9, and 2) altogether in our minivan. Since there's 4 adult drivers, we're going to take 3 hour driving shifts to drive through the night. We're in the other boat--we'd rather fly, but since airfare is so terribly high during our timeframe, we thought we'd save the $1000 (there's 5 of us with my husband and kids) and drive since we're going all out at the WL this year.

I'm glad to hear some positive comments about driving down to DW-I'm kind of grumpy about it lately since we always fly out of Midway in Chicago!

I think we're planning on leaving the evening of the 29th, and we'll hope to get to at least NC before we stop for the night.
