I'm heading home from Downtown Disney thanks to a great time at House of Blues. Whenever I wake up and find someone nice enough to maingate me in (aka whenever my roommate wakes up), I'm gonna be enjoying life by heading over to EPCOT and checking out the festivities. Anyone else gonna be nearby and want to meet up? Hope everyone is having fun.

P.S. If for some reason this isn't sufficient, send me a message so that we can meet up more expeditiously.

Well, color me surprised. I know that tons of people went to MK's 40th this time last year, and I know people are constantly saying that EPCOT is their favorite park, so I thought there'd be more excitement.

October 1st last year fell on a Saturday, which was easier to get to. Robert Olszewski was also releasing his Haunted Mansion piece that day, which made it even more of a reason to go.

I wish I could be at Epcot today, though!!!

Have fun, Andy.

Dh and I are heading over in a little bit to partake. Look for us...a short couple, eating there way around. We plan to join up with another couple, but still, we would love to visit with you.

Oh, yes we're 60ish, so don't be looking for a young couple. :rotfl2:

I might also say that those who went for the 40th last year at the MK felt kind of let down, both by the special events, lack of communication, and the complete chaos and general feeling of Disney not really knowing what they were doing.

It makes it harder, at least in my case, to justify the trip for a "special Fireworks Tag", and the opportunity to buy some limited edition merchandise which I'd likely not get a chance to get because they'll sell out so fast on the stuff I wanted really quick..... and require that I be there at the butt-crack of the morning in order to find a table someplace with no idea where it was in order to get a wrist band that says I can buy some stuff.

[Still a bit annoyed since last year when I made the trip they hadn't even announced the wrist band thing, then announce it 1-2 days before the day when I'm already on vacation without easy access to said announcements... and then to top it off, I hear the even worse horror stories from those just trying to get to the MK to GET their wristband which makes me almost glad I didn't even know about it]

We did the MK's 40th last year. Enjoyed it but didn't think that Epcot's 30th was a good enough reason to go this year. But we will be around next week.

Going to watch Marty S. speak tonight at the Epcot...really looking forward to it,

I'll be around next week as well. Start my Drive down Friday. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Marty is just finishing his first talk now with some Q&A. Very cool presentation. Tons of videos and pictures on concept art.

OMG, I am so excited! We are seated waiting for Marty to speak. Yay!

Nice. They actually had us exit through backstage because you all were lined up.

Now Sugar Ray.

How long did you wait online to get merchindlse I waited over fours hours got their and the line was to almost the entrance. Then they moved every body to line up around mouse gears so the line went all the way to world show case. It was fun stood behind a cm celebrating her b day with other cms and in front of cms trying to get pins. Which they talked a lady into buying to ap pins for them you think cms would know better then to find loop holes in Disney policy. Also later on in the day saw a guest steal a sprite for a cart wanted to yell you know this is Epcot birthday you could pay the 2.75 for he soda.

The "special tag" at the end of Illuminations was cool. Didn't appear to have any story or anything, but was about a 7 minute barrage of fireworks ended with enough shot off simultaneously that it looked like daylight for a little bit.

Then as people were walking out, they were projecting things onto Spaceship Earth. Celebrating 30 Years.

All in all, not worth a special trip, but definitely worth it if you were already nearby.

We weren't trying to get merchandise so I didn't pay attention to any of it...sorry.

I too waited in the epic Mousegear line. 3 hours 45 minutes. Crazy. Worst part is, I went through mousegear on my way out at 315, and they still had pins. Ughh.

I know they had stuff at 530 and put it in more stores. The only ones that sold out was the pin in pin central besides the mystery pin box. But their was still a line to get into that section. When I was on line some cms didn't know that if you wanted to shop and not get the limited stuff you could do so Without waiting on the line but some told they had to.

I thought the special tag was worth the trip. Then again, I'm local so my "special trip" was driving there 45 min after work with my DD4. We both loved it and I thought that the "throwback music" during the walkout (Tomorrow's Child, Horizons, Imagination, etc) was pretty neat. To me it seemed like there were a lot of cast members and other Disney fans there, not your typical Monday night crowd.

Glad I went, but wish that I didn't have to work today... Could use another couple hours' sleep :coffee:

For everyone hi waited in line for 4 hours in the heat and sun you be happy to know that today Tuesday you can get everything without no wait today. All the pins, pin sets and tee shirts in all sizes.

Kevin stole my fireworks daylight quote and attributed it to Dustin! Bahhh. JCPenny would never hire that bearded face to be a model! *hrumph*
