So Who Got Photography Gifts for Mother's Day?

This is my first post on the photography board, but I hope to be on this part of the boards more to learn from everyone. My mother's day gift from my DH and stepkids was the Sony Alpha A200 dSLR camera. I'm so excited! I've wanted a dSLR for a while now and my DH was finally tired of listening to me ask for one, it was an awesome deal at Circuit City and he gave in and got it for me. I can't wait to use it on our trip in September!

I got my Nikon D40 w/2 lens, flashlight, bag, mem. card, and extra battery!

Happy Mother's Day to me!:cool1:

A few weeks ago I sold my Canon 20D and upgraded to the 40D. I told DH that was my mothers day gift.
Today though, on the kitchen table was a little bag "from the kids"...it's the Extreme III 4GB compact flash card.

I love my family! :cloud9:

Not exactly photo related, but I got my DW a pink Nintendo DS with the Flash Focus game.

Mother's Day isn't a big deal at our household. We celebrate Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Kid's Day every day.

I got a circular polorizing filter for my new 10-20mm lens. And DH ordered a wired shutter release for my 30D. He said he went to like 7 different local camera stores and no one carried it - so he ordered it last night - should be here in a few days.

:cool1:

BUT - (sappy moment warning here) the best gift/s I got - was what my two DDs wrote in their respective cards to me. My youngest (just turned 15 on Friday) wrote " I love you Momma" - I literally got tears. I know she loves me - but it is like pulling teeth to get her to say it.

Then the oldest DD (19) wrote - and this had me laughing "I love you lots Mother, even if you are a complete dork sometimes. Have a fun day!" :rotfl:

I had to remind her - dorkiness is genetic - and to watch out. ;)

Happy Mothers day to all of the Dis photo Moms. :)

My kids completely forget about me every mothers day :confused3

That's OK, I'm not even sure where my mother even is today. I think they're somewhere in Great Britain this week...probably Scotland.

I suppose that I could declare that I got my wife a Canon G9 for mother's day, but that's been in the plans for a while and the timing is entirely coincidental. I could claim to have gotten her The Digital Photography Book, Volumes 1 & 2 since she started reading them today, but I really bought them for both of us. Or how about the thousands of dollars of lumbar sitting on my front lawn (including a few 8"x8" posts and gobs of 18' long 4"x8" cedar boards). I'm pretty sure that it all has something to do with a pergola that she's having built in our backyard this week. That's a pretty darned expensive Mother's Day present.

There's my wife's Mother's Day present:

Oh, and don't forget all of the paving stones on the driveway. That's part of some other project for the backyard in which she plans to convert yard to flowerbeds and add a bunch of pathways. I'm not really sure about the details, but it has already involved her renting a sod lifter, paying someone to haul away a bunch of sod and soil, and paying someone to redo the sprinkler system in the backyard.

I got a complaint-free photo session at a local nature reserve. :)

I usually pay my kids a small fee to practice posing or new lighting techniques, but this time they said, "It's on the house. Happy Mother's Day." I"ve got great kids. :)

Suburbanmom, you have a beautiful family and your hair looks great!!!;) Those are beautiful photos!:thumbsup2 Getting all three of mine to look at the camera at the same time is a small miracle - so I usually take them one at a time - here's a shot of my youngest with my new 85mm 1.8 lens - and yes, DH said "Happy Mother's Day to you!"LOL

Back at ya' Marge! Your son is adorable! Is that at f/1.8? You nailed the focus on the eyes. :D

Thank you and yes it's f/1.8 (sorry fingers got ahead of the brain!!) I actually did a little pp on him - I used an "eye pop" action to brighten them a bit as it was really overcast (as in about to storm!) and I ran a "botox brush" action on his skin, pulling the opacity way down. He had been eating lunch and I just had him run outside with me so I could get a few practice pics before it started to rain!!!LOL When I was looking at the pics, I realized he still had food on his face!!!:goodvibes He's such a great little guy - always willing to "play" with the mommy!!:thumbsup2

I got a 750 GB My Book to back up my photos. My birthday was last weekend, and I got money. I'm holding on to it though, cause I want the Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 for my D80 :thumbsup2

I do believe that camera equipment could me my new "love language"!!!:goodvibes Forget the jewelry, give me a new lens!!!:woohoo:

I got a Sony DSC-T300 digital camera. I just started a new thread about it since I am not familiar with it at all yet. I am very excited to have a new camera!!!

beautiful Lmarge! A co-worker has the 85 1.2 - but I can't afford that without robbing a bank!

I got my 50 1.4 - can't wait to try it out on some portraits.

Looks like we all got some nice stuff!!

So, I went to take some pictures this afternoon. DH opened up my monopod, set it up and handed it to me, and I was like, "wait a minute, how does it stand up?" :scratchin

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
