So when you are not obsessing over your pin collection what do you do?

I know all of you can't be living and breathing pin trading 24/7 can you? umm.. can you? You have to be kidding me. My God people! Just step away!! ;) ;) ;)

Seriously though. What hobbies do you have outside of pin trading? Any other collections? Do you play any sports? Fill us in on the non pin side of you!

Hi Lauri, glad you're doing better!

I moderate two boards on www.tug2.net which is a timeshare web site. If you own a timeshare, it's a great place to get advice on trading and buying/selling as well. I have met some wonderful people from there as well.

I also spent about three years doing my family tree (for one side of the family). I update it every so often and still follow new leads whenever they come up, but not as actively as before.

Now I spend time accompanying my son David to chess tournaments, and of course advocating for Rachel to make sure the school provides the special programming she needs. (For those of you with children that have special needs, you know that alone can be a full time job!)

And in my spare time I fight mean insurance companies. :smooth:

When I am not overwhelmed with chores I have several hobbies.
I am a big history buff which includes a number of things. I read a lot of history. Right now I am in a 101st Airborne fad after finally getting to watch "Band of Brothers" in spring. I attend historical lectures, living history events and tour historical places. Also, I am a Civil War reenactor though I don't get out much at all these days.
I am a fan of the Professional Bullriders tour. Before I was saddled with a mortgage I attended several events a year around the country. Met a lot of nice people. Kind of like pin trading folk. Now I only get to one or 2 events a year if they are close to home.

I'm into lots of things, I guess.. I'm involved in my local MOMS club, maintain the web site for the local Collie Rescue, and am working on starting a business doing beading and making suncatchers. :) That doesn't count getting involved in whatever my kids are doing, though. ;)

I work a lot.... I really love what I do so i spend a lot of time talking with customers and factory reps... But when I am home and want to just relax.. I work outside in my yard. I have not had much time or good weather this year but I still do what I can.

As for other hobbies. I love to read and I to am a history buff. I just read a good book called "What If" All about what would of or could have happened if not for a specific action taken at a specific time in history... I also like to camp (go figure) so we try and do that a few times a year. In fact we are heading out for a week starting next sunday. I also work hard on my other Disneyana stuff.

Nice question Lauri. It is nice to see what others enjoy besides pins.

You mean there are other things besides pins!

When I am not pinning lately I have been helping my parents doing some minor remodeling. I love to work around the house.
I also love to do yard work, working on a rock garden this summer but with the heat it may be December before I finish.

As for hobbies, I am a huge film buff. I collect movie memorabilia. I am working my Marx Bos & Monty Python collections right now.

Also with my DS in school my new hobby is writing checks. This hobby seems to growing daily.

It hardly seems like I have time to do much of anything . . .

I sell kids clothes on eBay, which consumes a large chunk of my "free" time.

I am the chairperson for the Sally Foster fundraiser at my kids' school. That takes up tons of time from September through November.

I read, read, read -- :D -- Mysteries, science fiction, novels, non-fiction on various topics.

Like y'all can't tell what some of my other hobbies are.

Yes, I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I don't collect all things Star Wars, but I do read most of the books that are published.

I've also been reading and collecting comic books since I was a kid. Mostly DCs (that's Superman, Batman, etc.), but I have read some Marvels (Spidey, X-Men, etc.). I don't even want to think about how many I have boxed and bagged up. If I had to hazard a guess, it's probably close to 8,000, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's close to 10K.

Judging from the looks of the basement, I also collect carpet samples and sawdust. The samples are because of work, the sawdust is from the projects Lauri has come up with. :teeth:

Nat, is that "What If" book an anthology with several different writers? If so, I think I have the same book in my "to read" pile. If you like alternative histories, I have several to recommend. There's one writer named Harry Turtledove who has done some great series of novels.

That is the one Matt.

This weekend, move 20 cubic yards of mulch then pass out.

I love photography. I like to shoot candid portraits, landscapes and architecture. I like to shoot black and white if I have the time to make the prints. I like to repeatedly travel to a places like Williamsburg, Va and try to find new and unique ways to capture images that dipict a location. My daughter has had a camera in her hand since she was 2. You should see all the horse poop and squirrel pictures she took on her first visit to Williamsburg:-)

My wife and I have just started matte cutting and framing this week. I envy Nat's framing work; it is great.

Volunteer activities around school and church start to creep into the picture this time of year. With work taking so much time, we tend to choose activities and hobbies that the whole family can enjoy.

I put ALOT of time and energy into my job, which I enjoy. (I have yet to find something I'd rather be doing.) I teach art, computers (mostly desktop publishing and computer animation), archery, riflery, basic woodworking, and run our soccer program.

In my spare time I shoot traget archery. I taught a couple of my students a little too well and up unitl about 2 weeks ago their high score was higher than mine. One was 9 pts. higher at 288 out a possible 300! Took care of that with a 291! I often take my students to field archery tournaments. In these tourneys the targets are placed along a hiking trail at varying and unknown distances. One of my students, the same one that scored 288, I have yet to beat but his day is coming!

I also draw, mostly while watching TV, and occaisionally paint. I paint mostly backgrounds for my pins but have only managed to finish 1 so far. I like to make bouncies
PeteBnc.gif
and other animations

, read (mostly science fiction and alternative history), and do some woodworking.

Lately I have been spending alot of time with my nephews. We have been swimming, playing games, playing with playdough and learning to ride a bike. I am looking forward to the day when I can teach them things like soccer and archery. I also can't wait for the day I can take them to WDW!
