So when do you start packing?

I am trying to keep our trip a secret from the kids til their dad gets back from the R&R... I think I might use the bin idea others have posted so I don't need to have the suitcases out and have them wondering what is going on... typically I start packing 2 weeks before we go anywhere.

I've had a lot of DDs stuff packed for months. I am going to pull a big suitcase out today and see how much space I still have. My stuff will probably get packed about a week ahead.

Dragging it out for so long w/ our packing has also been fostered by participating in a gift exchange on our cruise but ALSO, the change over from summer to winter clothing. So tossing shorts and swimsuits in the suitcases as opposed to packing them away has worked well. Not a lot of swimming going on in MN right now w/ temps in the 40s. (excpet today which has been in the 60s.... AHHHH) :sunny:

We are 17 days out, and I have started the "disney only" packing, and have most of DD's customs made and ready to go, but i will have to wait for clothes for DH and I until the week of b/c we will be taking stuf we are currently wearing.

As we are still wearing our shorts and t-shirts, I can't start packing now. I have my list of needs (saved from last trip) and will probably double check it the weekend before we go. I will start packing 2 days before we go - though most of it will be the day before. I do have a stash of stuff (notebooks, crayons, stickers, glow sticks) that I have been collecting for the kids. I am planning on going through that tonight.

I've had a running Disney list for months now. My real packing list will get made about a week in advance so that I can purchase any last minute items. I'll start laying clothes, etc, a few days before hand. I won't actually start packing until the day before we go.

I won't pack until a day or two before we leave. Otherwise I'd end up digging in my luggage for clothes and stuff I need.

We are 57 days out now, and I've been packing for weeks (maybe months!) I have some warm weather clothes put away for the kids, along with a box of items for the park (cheap Disney "souveneirs" that I will give to the kids there, glow sticks, ponchos, activity books, special PJs). I have a master packing list in the box, too. Knowing me, I will have the suitcases packed at least two days in advance. If I didn't have everything packed and in the car the night before, I would not be able to sleep. I probably won't be able to any way, but that because I'll be to excited!

We leave on the 27th! Woo hoo! And I started packing today. :cool1:

It's just me and my 14-year old daughter, and we're not checking any luggage. I'm planning on wearing my bulkiest clothing, and packing a few pairs of pants, a few pairs of shorts, half a dozen shirts. My daughter thinks I'm nuts.

I pulled out the big suitcase tonight and started putting stuff in there. We are taking my niece with us and since her parent's aren't planners at all I am buying and packing her stuff. I started putting all of it in the suitcase tonight because she won't use it before the trip.

I also have a bag of stuff that I have been gathering a little at a time that is ready to go into the bag at any time. I don't think it's ever too early to plan and start getting things together. I know I need to check and make sure things don't get left out!!
