QUESTION:

When you go to WDW, what time do you usually check-in? (Or at least TRY to check-in?)

And when do you actually get into your room?

Cindy:rolleyes:

We always check in by 9:00 a.m., drop off all of our luggage, and head to a park. We have had our rooms as early as 1:30.

We always check-in as soon as we get there. If we take the 9:30 flight, we arrive at the resort around 1:00, if we take 11:30, then it's 3:00.

If I can remember correctly, at OKW the last 3 years, 2000 we arrived around 1:00 and our room was ready :D. In 2001, we arrived at 1:00 and it was not ready, we went to lunch, called around 2:30 and it was not ready, went to Walmart, called about 3:30 and it was ready. The bad part about that time was that we still had all the luggage in the trunk when we went to Walmart, we had to put the groceries in the back seat. This year (May), we arrived around 3:00 and it was ready. At BWV, in 12/00, we arrived around 3:00 and it was ready, in 12/01 we arrived around 1:00, it was not ready, we went to Big River Grill, went back up to the lobby around 2:30 and it was ready.

We usually arrive at our resort about noon. About half the time the room is ready.

Since we usually arrive on Sunday and the grand villas have their lowest occupancy nights on Saturday, our room is usually ready whenever we get there, 10:00 am, very often.

The only time our rom wasn't ready at four o'clock was our only stay in an OKW two bedroom. The previous guests trashed the place. It seems there was wild amounts of burned crap on in the oven and the maid told us that there was lots to clean up in the bathroom. The unit reeked of oven cleaner when we got there at five, but was gone by the time we got back that night.

We always take the earliest flight out of Chicgo Midway (ATA) around 7:00 am and arrive in MCO about 10am. By the time we rent the car and drive to the BWV it is usually just after 11 am. If the room is ready (about half the time) we unload luggage and head to the park. If the room is not ready, we store the luggage and still head to a park. We usually have to change our long pants to shorts, since we go the 2nd week of Dec and it is colder in Chgo than Orlando at that time.

We usually take an early flight and arrive at WDW by noon. Most of the time the room is ready. If it's not, we just have our stuff stored and head to the parks.

We arrive in the early afternoon and hang out waiting for our room. We will be landing at the airport around noon for our next trip. If our room isn't ready, we may go get our APs or go to eat. We rarely do anything on our arrival day.

In June, we arrived at VWL around 1:00 and our room was ready. Last year, we were in the Lodge (not DVCers then) and arrived around 11:00 a.m. and had to wait a few hours. We didn't mind, we just let them keep our luggage and we explored the lodge. That kept the kids quite happy!

We got to HH at 10am - room was ready!

This is quickly becoming our favorite resort.

My kids newly announced preference:

1. Disney Cruise

2. Hilton Head

3. WDW

I was very surprised. The big difference here is that the staff takes time to learn the kids names. That is very important to them. Since there are no characters, the staff works extra hard to create the magic.

Something new is the One Fine Day Promenade. B'lue Crabbe put this event together - we make streamers and noisemakers - and started the parade at the Lodge and ended at the pier. Probably 50 adults and kids participated. Many joined along the way.

It was great - HH's answer to Spectromagic and the Main Street Electrical Parade!

We usually arrive after 11pm so the first night we stay at an All Star. Then I leave the troops sleeping and go over and check in around 7:30 a.m.

I have done this 4 times now and our room has been ready at 7:30am every time except one! (1:00pm that time). This is at the BWV and then just last week at the BCV. We have been very lucky so far - hope it holds out for the future!

hi: we're usually at the resort(bwv) by about noon. knock wood- we usually manage to get into a room that's ready. the longest we've had to wait for a room is about an hour and a half. we're usually checking in on either tuesday, wednesday, or thursday so that may account for the availability as well.

We also arrive early....if the room is not ready, maybe a walk along the boardwalk. Or maybe downtown disney. Or more often then not....The dreaded trip to Wal-Mart for all the essentials.

We usually arrive a day or two beofre and try a new resort prior to DVC'ing. (We want to stay at each resort at least once LOL). We go to the resort and check in at about 7 or 8 am and store the luggage while we continue our vacation. Last week we checked in by 8 and our room was ready by 3:00.
We'll do the same thing again in April, but DH and I are going to have the luggaage sent over, check in at WLV in the early am and then meet the kids and Granny and Gramps wherever they decide. I figure it should be less work this way. :D

Our trip down to OKW two weeks ago was our first time down as DVC members. We stayed ay the The Hotel Royal Plaza to save Friday points. I then awakened around 6:00 am the following morning and drove over to OKW to check in without my family. This worked out well for us as we were able to move in to the room around noon!

:jester:

What we've done the past 2 trips (and will be doing again this weekend) is fly out on a late afternoon/evening flight and stay the first (Saturday) night at the Hyatt in the Orlando airport. We then get our towncar or rental car the next morning, do our grocery run, and get to the resort by 10:30 or so. The room hasn't been ready either time, but we just checked everything and went park hopping until nap time, when we called and got the room number.

We usually fly out around 9:30.......arrive around 1:00 at OKW after getting rental car. 2 weeks ago we got at VB at 1:30 and our 1BR was ready(sat). At OKW on the same trip, we arrived at 1:00(wed) and our 1BR there was also ready:D But about half of the times we can't check in until around 3:00:(
