I was looking at the parks hours for last winter an it looks like the last Park closed at 9.30
thats only 6.30 our time.So we will be wide awake, so will our 2 kids, since they are night owls as it is.
I know there is down town disney but what times do things close and how do you get back and forth to your resorts?

There's always Downtown Disney. Lots of places there stay open late. There are also places at Pleasure Island.

The resort buses run late.

Downtown Disney stores/shops are open until 11:00 pm. As the previous poster mentioned there are Disney busses that run between your resort and DTD.

thanks
I was a bit worried we were going to be sitting in our room looking at each other

Don't count on being wide awake - by the time you're done with all the walking and everything, you might be glad to just get back to the hotel to relax
;) ;)

Where are you staying? The Boardwalk area is also open late and is great for exploring at night - jugglers and magicians along the way to entertain.
We also love going to other resorts and checking them out - eating somewhere new - doing the hidden mickey hunt. They often have their own activities set up - AKL has a parade and storytelling around the fire in the evening.

we are at teh CSR we were tempted to change to the AKL if we can get a better veiw then the parking lot

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I also heard that some parks stay open until 1am if you are staying in a hotel inside DW. How late do the buses run until? I would freak if I was miles away from the hotel and we were still somewhere else. LOL

There is a large multi screen cinema complex at Downtown Disney, as well as Cirque du Soleil.

I was worried about being left at a part too, and missing the last bus, the bus driver said that security checks the parks and buses run until everyone is gone from the parks.

Yes security is pretty good at making sure everyone is out of the park. We were getting our pictures tranfered to a CD at MK. I was afraid we missed the bus but when we came out one was waiting and we got on it left and took us to POR. He said he goes back now and waits until all is clear. :thumbsup2 Almost makes you want to wait the crowds out at the bus stop....:rotfl: You would have your own chauffeur.

You could always go in the swimming pools, that is what we do at the end of the day.

We've actually left Epcot late after having dinner at Le Cellier and walked through an empty park to get on our own personal bus back to the resort. As long as you are staying on resort property they will make sure you get back to the resort from a park.

Pleasure Island is open til 2am so the busses actually run a little later than that to get everyone 'home'.

You might want to check the park calendar for Extra Magic Hours...on some nights each week one of the parks is open for evening EMH (3 hours past regular park closing). Here is a link to a great site that gives hours, fireworks and parades times, plus EMH info for all of the parks on one page for each month.

If you are at an EMH park you can rest assured that Disney buses will be running to bring all guests back to their resorts after EMH ends for the night.

As everyone has mentioned, there's Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. I think the stores at DD are open until something like 11 pm. Someone else also mentioned the Boardwalk, which is definitely one of my favourite things to do. The atmosphere is great, and there's usually a lot going on.

Something else we usually do in the evenings (well, before we had kids and had the stamina to stay awake) that hasn't been mentioned is mini golf. Fantasia Gardens and Fantasia Fairways are near the Epcot resorts and I know we've played as late as 10:30 pm. I'm not sure if the Summer Winterland ones at Blizzard Beach are also open late, but I'm sure you can easily find out.

The only thing that sucks is getting to Fantasia Gardens/Fairways by bus. You need to take a bus from your resort to something that's open (i.e., DD), then take a bus to the Epcot hotels (Swan/Dolphin/Yacht/Beach Club/Boardwalk). Then to go back to your hotel you do the same in reverse. If you don't have a car, I would recommend just calling a cab because it can be really long and tiring.

I hope that helps!

Can you walk to the mini- golf from the Boardwalk?

Yes, you can walk from the Boardwalk to the mini-golf. So, you can make an evening of dinner at Boardwalk and mini-golf. Now, it's been a couple of years, so I can't remember just how long of a walk, but I'd say 15 minutes at the most. I seem to remember it looks close, but you do have to go through the Swan grounds and cross the street. But, it's an easy walk.

Wow, does anyone have energy after visiting the parks for evening activities :lmao: Seriously, we always go back and sleep... but we are also traveling with a toddler!!

However, our childless friends always hit Downtown Disney until the wee hours, so clearly there is plenty to do "after" hours!

This is nice to know, as DW and I are planning on being the last ones out each night and were a little worried about whether we'd be calling a taxi to get back. We were going to rent a car but decided against it.
