So what kind of car can I expect for 2 grand?

It's only a slight concern at the moment. The last van I drove had bad oxydation all around the car, and some knicks on the hood from flying rocks and such on the highway. There's enough clear coats of sprays you can buy to help stop it. And there's always ways to find original manufacture colors, if need be.

At least I've got some one else coming with us to look at cars. My bf's uncle. He knows what to look for under the hood, and other things that can come up fishy. Also there to make sure we're not taken for a ride.

Grrrr.... this process is so annoying.

So state of California requires a car to be smogged within a 90 day time frame of selling. He listed the car as being smogged, which was one green light for me. Well the smog was done Sept 8, passed just fine, but now we're nearly 4 months out from that date. The car was just listed on Craig's list, so it's not like it's been sitting for 3 months waiting for a sale.

He's not willing to negotiate if he takes the car to be smogged. Which if he's not willing to play by the rules books, I don't want to deal with it.

It would've been a nice car, but I guess it's not the right one.
