So what happens at AP events?

I wasn't able to take advantage of the 13 months of AP offer, but am still thinking of getting a 5 day park hopper and then upgrading to an AP while I'm there next November.

Last year while I was there there was an AP event, where they closed DCA early.

What goes on at an AP event? Is it worth planning a trip around?

I believe you can still purchase the AP online today and get the 13 months, today is the LAST day for that though, but the AP needs to be redeemed no later than 11/18 for the promo to be honored (that's what has been reported in another thread about the 13 for 12 AP).

I believe they no longer do the AP events after hours, but i could be wrong. We had AP's that expired in November and I don't recall having any invites to any such events, just the "AP Days" which have little things during regular park times - exclusive character Meet n Greets, free popcorn & water, etc. Not very exciting to me.

Every one I've been to has been different. Sometimes they test new things that will be coming to the parks. Like the FP zones at an after hours F! preview. Or one time we got a coupon to try new borders on a free photopass download. There hasn't been an after hours event in awhile. Plus the last few that weren't the now discontinued anniversary parties required you to register in advance at the ticket booths, so hard to plan around that. It does seem that the emphasis lately has been exclusive access to areas/events during park hours, instead of anything after hours.

Thanks ... thinking back, it may have been a GCV event that closed DCA down early, not an AP event. I was, I think, November 2, 2016?

And if I have to register at the park in advance for any AP events, I wouldn't be able to anyway.

So while it's not a compelling reason to get the AP, it's nice to know what they are about! :earsboy:

Based on my purchase it looks like it's valid to be redeemed up to one year from the date of purchase. I bought mine online late yesterday (2/10/17) and the e-ticket voucher page says: Valid Through: February 10, 2018.
