So what happened to all those that thought POP was ugly?

The kids and I enjoyed our stay there. We've stayed there twice already and will keep coming back! I never thought it was ugly. I think it's cute and fun and colorful!

I guess what is the point of those who think that PoP is ugly just posting that over and over - especially on threads where folks are excited to be going there? None of the values appeal to me at all but I think it would put a damper on someone's enthusiasm for their vacation if I just posted how unappealing those resorts are to me! That is just a matter of taste (and maybe budget)....I'm sure some folks don't like the hotels that appeal to me most either.

I agree completely. I think the Pop is ugly, but I see no reason to poop on the parade of people who like it. But since OP asked, count me as one who things the Pop is ugly. I've never seen it in person though, and I will say that I think this sort of theming (along with the All Stars) will probably apeal to my kids, so I'm not saying i'll never stay there. But I will say I think its ugly.

Have been a few times, it is cute, I don't mind tacky if it is done well--it was exactly what I expected for the price and having stayed at ASMU previously. Besides, I have not seen a Disney resort that isn't over the top with the themeing and decor! I was disappointed with it in February though--my room was filthy and filled with cobwebs. After that I didn't book it for the first two days of my vacation this time--I went with POR. I'm sure I'll try it again just not to start my vacation!

It is really tacky, we stayed there in February, and my kids loved it. The rooms were very nice, the foodcourt also nice, but could get VERY crowded, and all of the pools were a lot of fun. The price is great, we had an AP rate, and for 2 nights it was great....

I have stayed in the values , mod, and deluxe.

I have learned to love each one and appreciate all the work and themeing that goes into each one.....


Including the turbo toilets.....

We were driving by a couple of years ago and my DD said ... Ewwwww...so tacky! I guess it's easy to have deluxe taste when you are too young to have a job, LOL!
But seriously, it was those huge, rediculous words on top of the buildings that made us wonder what they were thinking.
On that trip, we got a great rate at AKL, but deluxe does not normally fit in our budget.
We will probably try PC on our next trip. Hey, it's value, it's new, and all we have to do is make sure we don't look up.

we found it loud, and fun...put us in a disney mood for sure!!

we are going back jan 2007, and we offered to ds to stay at AKL, and he said "no way i want to go back to pop!" he just wants to go over to AKL and walk around and eat there.

fine by us, as it is a heck of alot cheaper, we only use the room to sleep and shower in, and when we do use the pool it is after we get back from the parks. this past jan there was never more then 10 people in the pool (hippy dippy) with us at night.
less money on a room means... more money for eating out, and goodies to bring home to remember it by.

I still think it's pretty garish, but having said that I loved staying there! I stayed there on a special last minute trip with my oldest ds last summer and we had a blast! Normally we stay at deluxes (well, so long as we get a good enough discount), but I'd stay at Pop again anytime!

We LOVE to stay in luxury resorts ~ but on other kinds of vacations!

But on Disney trips, we want Disney, total Disney!
Anyone can stay in a *nice* resort anywhere on the face of the earth!

Where else will you find such fun, colorful icons, depicting such sweetness & innocence?!?!

Bring it on ~ we were just there, LOVED every second of it, and can't wait to return!

And... Let's not forget those music they play at the pool! I love hearing music from different decades. My favorites are from the 70s and the 80s!

I don't think of Pop as ugly or garish, I think of it as fun! It is definitely theming for the kids and they sem to love it. When we weren't sure if we would be able to go to AKL this May(thanks to FL resident codes we are booked for 5 days there,Yeah!), I reserved POR as our backup. All my 14 year old kept saying is if we don't go to AKL, he would much rather go back to a fun place like Pop, not a pretty place like POR. So, it works for the kids.

My husband and I stayed at POP last June. We really enjoyed it. We don't have children, but I think it would be a GREAT place to take kids! We had fun just walking around checking out all the different decades. Sure, it might not fit everyone's tastes, but that is why Disney offers such a variety of resorts. If you don't like one, you don't have to stay there. And, for most of us, how much time do we really spend at the resorts when we go? We're usually there to sleep and that's about it!
