So what do you (or your kids) like about 50's Prime Time? I'm not getting it.

Just tell me why everyone likes to go back. If we did it, we would do it for lunch.

We ate there for an early dinner during our first trip and we were not overly impressed. The food was OK but we have not felt the need to return.

Part of the problem (I think) is that we were a party of just 2 adults and we were sat at another table that was right next to a large group of probably 10-12. We were easy to forget.

We will probably try again some year when our DS is older because I think when you have kids that are 5-10 or so they probably enjoy seeing Mom and Dad get in trouble! ;) :teeth:

It's pretty simple, really. The food was very good. The atmosphere was lots of fun. Therefore, we will be going back. :D

Great food (they didn't blink an eye when DH and I split the potroast)
Great atmosphere!
PBJ shakes!

I like the atmosphere, and the food is pretty good. I love seeing the sitcoms on the TV...just wish I could hear them!

We loved it in '01. We have it booked for next month. We felt the food was actually quite good. And the interaction our server, Cousin Chris, had with our group was wonderful. I did notice that the couples didn't seem to be getting the same 'treatment' other groups were tho. I had the pot roast and it was great. Dh had meatloaf and is still talking about it. And at one point every table within view was watching as Cousin Chris did a whole routine with my dd, then 8! What a hoot.

We've been 4 times- our last trip we went twice! The food is good, and the atmosphee is fun-Uncle Tim is the best!!! I would go there just to eat the s'mores:D

The food was ok but we wouldn't go back again.
Don't really care for the "Motherly yelling at people" (yes I now know that's what their supposed to do)
We didn't know that when we went and don't enjoy that kind of "humor". My Mother never yelled at me like that at the dinner table, she managed to teach us good manners without screming like a crazy woman.

That being said I know many people think it's very entertaining.

We have eaten here for both lunch and dinner. Food and atmosphere both Fab!!!

It's a great place...if your idea of fun is being yelled at by the help while eating bland food.

Tried it once, never going back, I like the food and the atmosphere at the Sci-fi much, much more.

We tried it for the first time in June and we will definitely be back!! The food was great and Cousin Christopher was hilarious:p We laughed during the entire meal--it was lots of fun!!

Our family love the 50's Primetime!

Personally I think it helps that I grew up in the 50's. The kitchens are like going back in time to my parents house. So much of that decor was in my parents kitchen. We have been there for both lunch and dinner. I find the dinners to be more to my taste. The meatloaf, the fried chicken and the pot roast are my favorites. I once had just a sandwich for lunch and I was unimpressed. My kids enjoy the "Cousin" who serves us. I don't even think my SIL minded when he was fed his green beans that he tried to hide under his napkin. And I know my DD got a good chuckle out of it. My grandkids love the desserts, even looking at the desserts threw the viewmaster is fun for them. So, maybe it's not for everybody but that's a good thing....it will be easier to get PS when we go again.

I haven't been there and I guess I don't really get it either.

I think I would be very embarrassed to be publically humiliated the way I've heard some people are. I don't think I could enjoy a meal worrying about whether or not I was doing something I could get "in trouble" for. And I never finish my food - and I wouldn't appreciate someone trying to force feed me!

Also, the menu doesn't really appeal to me. I make meatloaf and pot roast at home, I don't want to eat it out - and at high prices at that!

We went there and were disappointed because we had a dud server. No fun interaction like we'd heard about or saw at other tables. The food was good but we ate there to get the "full show". This trip we're going back to the Sci-Fi (our favorite fun restaurant next to Chef Mickeys) and we're going to Whispering Canyon for the first time. Hopefully or dud waiter from the 50's didn't transfer there.

This is one of the "must do" restaurants when we visit WDW.

Both DH and I are 50's vintage, so we get a big kick out of the atmosphere.

We love the interaction. When the kids were little, they got a real kick out of Mom and Dad being scolded for having our elbows on the table.

When they reached their teens, we had the best time when two servers decided to play matchmaker with our son and a girl from another party.

We like the food. It's old fashioned down home cooking, but they also serve generous salads.

We absolutely must have the S'Mores dessert. That's the best!

DH, DD and I ate there last summer. I do not mean to sound negative but we really did not enjoy the food. We are not picky eaters either. The atmosphere was great, and we enjoyed our waiter. It's just we felt as if we waisted our magical wishes on this meal. We have no plans for going back to 50's but maybe we will do dessert there not a full meal.

We also did not enjoy this place. My boys who were 8 and 12 at the time, were tired by the time we got there for dinner. They were practicly crying by the way the waiter acted to them. I always tease them and tell them we are going back on next trip and they say if we do, they aren't going. No one liked it or the food.

We make it a point to eat there every trip. It has become a tradition to eat dinner there before heading over to grab seats for Fantasmic. The servers are funny and the food is good and plentiful. I have eaten the meatloaf and pork dishes which were very tasty. I had fried chicken last trip and was served 4 huge pieces of chicken! It easily served two people and was delicious. The servers seem to know when you are into the antics or not and everyone always has a good time. I grew up in the 60s and 70s but thoroughly enjoy this restaurant. You really should try it once and find out for yourself. Everyone has different tastes and you might find this to be one of your must dos for future trips or something you can do without. At least you can say you tried it. We love it!

Terry is so right about letting the Cm know you don't want to be part of 'the show'! When we were there, our party consisted of two families, both with just turned 8 y/o dd's. The other family, especially dd, are more reserved than we are. In fact, after sending the girls to wash their hands and then testing them by asking the color of the soap, Cousin Chris must have realized that the other little girl was NOT going to enjoy being the center of attention. So, he focused on my family. He was soooo right in his judgement call. He did a camel type train thingie with french fries with my dd, all the while singing the Aladdin song. I watched the other little girl, sitting there, horrified, stuffing french fries into her mouth so he wouldn't notice hers were still on the plate!!! My dd on the other hand loved the attention.
