such as PC, candle, lingerie, etc. and just dont want to go. especially if its given by a close friend..She is about to start selling an expensive brand of skin care and tells me how wonderful it is and doesnt think its expensive...well it sure the heck is..$140 for a small jar of moisturizer?
Let me say that she is in a bad way financially and hopes this 'venture' will bail her out.. Its not like I dont have the money but I sure dont wanna spend it on her skin care...Trying to figure out a way to get out of a party..

"Sorry, I have something going on that night". or if its more about not buying the stuff--"Sorry, I really like the products I am using and don't want to try anything new"

good answer...
OP I was in a similar situation ..only it was my SIL... LOL NOt cool!!

Tell her it a little pricey for your taste, I would still go the party to support your friend you don't have to buy anything

I'll be honest with you. I just tell someone, close friend or aquaintance. Often I have to work because they seem to do parties on Thurrsday nights but I really just tell the truth. I don't have the money for $140.00 face cream because I'm saving for ___. Because even if you do not go to the party, they can take orders. So, if I'm not interested, I'm not interested. Wish them luck and continue on.

At one time in life I thought I had to order something from whatever they were selling but no more. If I buy, I really want it.

I know a lot of people who sell stuff and I just have to say no. I know you sell candles/cookware/juice/make-up and if I want some candles/cookware/juice/make-up, I'll keep you in mind.

My SIL used to sell Longenberger baskets. I loved them but never bought one from her. I bought 2 baskets years before she sold them. I still have those baskets but I will never pay that kind of $$ on a basket again.

SIL & I still get along fine. :)

Let me guess Arbonne?:rotfl:OMG I went to a neighbor party, bought the cheapest thing there and left.

Find an excuse. They try and sell you a "kit" that is astronomical in cost. :scared1:

My excuse as I was buying the cheap thing, was I cannot afford the expense, which was true.

Just tell her the truth since she is a close friend. Tell her you do not care for home parties and do not plan on buying anything from that line as you have your own stuff you prefer.

If she pressures you tell her sorry, you are going to have to pass.

I would sort of be honest so you don't have to keep dodging her when she tries to lay the sales pitch on you.

Well I go with the truth, skin products give me rashes, fake jewelry makes my skin turn green and fragrance gives me migraines. I'm quite the buzz kill:laughing:

The ONLY party I am interested in is a purse party but they don't seem to happen this far out of NY

I would just be honest with her and say you really aren't interested in the product and maybe if you are free that night you would come and support her first party.

As long as you present yourself in the right way(meaning don't be rude about it or condescending) I don't see any reason why you just can't be honest. If she is a good friend then she will understand.

I lost a client over Arbonne. She thought it would be perfect for me to sell from my business with all my clientele and being in the beauty business. She would sign me up under her and I could sell and talk people into being under me. Uh-huh. No Way. Just what someone wants to hear when they come in for a haircut--pressure to buy skincare or sign up to sell it. No thanks.:sad2:

I tell it like it is, not interested, don't like the product, won't spend that kind of $$ or whatever.

The only thing I will still buy is the occassional Pampered Chef item.

I even have my Mary Kay chick finally programmed to not bug me, I will call her with my order don't call me, email me or invite me to a bazillion makeover events, I am not interested.

My SIL and I have had issues in the past... Thankfully this did not start a new one!!:thumbsup2

ETA: It was that Airbonne stuff too!

I despise being invited to a "party" where the real intent is to sell you something.
I just say I can't make it & don't offer an explanation.

That was my guess, too!

I had a friend who sold this stuff and I tried to support her by buying a couple of items. I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the item for what I paid for it. Also, after I bought a couple of the items, she tried to recruit me as a salesperson (and this is where I drew the line and told her "no").

Just politely say "I'm sorry I cannot make it, hope y'all have fun". If you feel comfortable enough, also tell her that the items are outside of your budget and you cannot afford them.

If she is your friend, she will understand. Good luck!

I went to a jewelry party and hated everything they were selling . I had my husband call me about 20 minutes into the party with an "emergency"so that I could leave ....sorry---it had to be done...

I am very honest and tell them I am not interested. : )

sent you a PM :)

the only parties i get invited to are jewelry parties, and i'm just not a jewelry person.

I SO do not like those kind of "parties", probably should tell her you can't afford it right now. If you cannot attend the party...I am sure she would gladly let you have a catalogue so you can order something anyway.
