So what about the Christmas parade?

If my family wants to be in the audience of the parade we always watch on tv, what is the deal? Has anyone done this?

I read that there is a Christmas parade every morning at MK. Is that true? Is it the same one we see on tv?

We are just in the beginning stages of planning for our first ever Christmas trip so I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

Sher

They tape the parade the first Saturday of December. You can be a part of the audience but it will be a LONG and BORING day. It takes several hours and is shown in portions. The entertainers are taped on different days.

The Christmas parade is only shown at the beginning of December at the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas parties and then it replaces the Share a Dream Come True parade the week of Christmas.

We were there on December 5, when they filmed it, but stayed away for fear of the crowds. Epcot was not croeded. They had a bunch of extras already chosen in advance, and had news coverage. They filmed it at five. We were also there for a military parade. I think it was during our trip this April. We found that because everyone watched the parade, it was a good time to get on rides.

The Parade is taped over 2-3 days the first weekend in December. The parade basically runs very slowly, with about one float ever 1/2 or something, so they can get everything just right. Last year they started it about 8 am and ran it through about 1 pm last year when we were in the Park on the first Sat. in Dec. (The park was pretty empty in the morning, once you got past main street, which was a zoo, but after lunch time, MK was way too crowded so we headed to Epcot.)

Personnally, I would not waste my time to try to get on TV. They do have tons of extras already worked out, so your chances of getting on on a shot would be slim, plus take alot of time away from your precious park time. The Christmas Parade/Entertainment that you see on TV, is different than the park parade in that the normal parade does not have all the actors, songing/dancing, etc. you see Christmas morning. If you want to just see the Christmas parade (which I thought was great and better then the "Glitz" they showed on Christmas morning) you will have to go to MVMCP or else it is only run in the parks starting about the week before Christmas through Christmas/New Years week at the regular parade time.
