how much extra money do you think we need for extra snacks after
all the ''free credits' are done? how much extra money do you spend
in the world? just curious how much more we may need.

Do you drink? We usually spend between 200-350 a week for alcohol- but we have cocktails around the world and two glasses of wine each at dinner.

It depends. If you prefer to eat a "full" 3 meals a day, then you'll need to allow for the missing meal on the plan. If you can do with sharing a breakfast platter and a lunch combo or eating a pastry for breakfast, then you may not need much extra $ at all for food.

Plan on whatever your alcohol preferences are plus maybe $50/week for extra food. We spent about $75 for our family of 4 on extra food- $50 of it was pizza delivery which we threw away and most of the other $25 was before we figured out that we didn't need to really "save" our snack credits.

I paid for the DDP, and I plan on paying OOP for breakfast. I think I will have ample to eat using CS for lunch, 1 SC, and a TS daily. (I am bringing extra $ though, JIC):goodvibes

We are going on the dining plan as well. I fugured on taking an extra $20per day just in case. When we went in Oct 2005 hardly spent anything oop but sincethe dining plan has now changed for childs meal, thought I should budget for it as well as extras we may want. We do plan on eating off site 1 day and will bring extra for that as well.

and going back for a second go round in Sept!!! Family of four, all adults, 10 days, non-drinkers though. (Only had Maragritas in Mexico and Lapu Lapu's at the Poly) We left an additional $75 in tips for great service and spent maybe another $30-40 for food, mostly before we got the hang of DDP. Had 1 TS, 5 CS, and 11 SC left at the end of the vacation!! I don't think we'll use ANY extra for food this time (ok, maybe a little more drinking!!)

We spent $0 with a few caveats.

1. Got a free drink mug at CSR. This helped with drinks.
2. Stopped at Super Target and got a case of water, a 6-pack of beer, a box of cereal, milk, some grapes, and crackers.

We never went hungry and ended up with CS and snack credits left over.

We had water shipped to the resort, bought refillable mugs, and the only other thing we purchased while using DDP was shave ices from Japan because they didn't accept the plan. We actually ended up with 12 snacks credits leftover (4 people) and used them at Goofy's Candy Shop to buy some treats for the long trip home.

And our dd2 at the time - didn't even get her own credits. And we still spent maybe $100 or so in food/drink OOP. We shared meals with dd, went to some buffets, brought cereal with us from home and used snack credits for milk in the morning on any days we didn't have a buffet breakfast planned. We overtipped maybe $40 or so. And we spent some on snack stands that didn't take the DP - for frozen lemonades and some other things we were dying for in the heat. We could have just used snack credits - but when you're that hot and the frozen lemonade is staring you in the face - it's easy to throw $4 up on the counter.

We were there for a week and it was dh and I with ds4 and dd2.

We maybe ordered a couple of alcoholic drinks during the week.

We generally spend 0 extra, find the DP more than sufficient for meals extra drinks, and snacks. Think for us an extra $20 a day just in case would be more than enough.

what's a free mug?:confused3

I purchased OOP , breakfast at Kona's for my son, $28. A lunch at Beaches, and cream $30. And a lunch at Tempura Kiku, $69.I bought some snacks, that were not worth using a snack credit for. Like, a few extra sodas in the park. We went out to the movies, at downtown disney. I cant remember, if i was allowed to pay with the credit, on the room, though. I also, tipped generously, over the amount, at dinner, where there was exceptional service. Which was about, 6 out of 7 dinners. Also, had a drink, every night . I did not, do alot in souvies. Maybe $75, tops. For me. Son, had his own money. I had a charge credit, to the room , with $500 on it. I had left over about $172. This was for the two of us. In August, it will be me, and the two boys. I will bring enough, for a cushion.;)

We didn't spend anything OOP on food on our last dining plan trip other than for adult beverages (and since we went during F&W, that did add up! :rotfl: ). I think it all depends on how you eat. The dining plan was enough for us and then some. We used snacks for breakfast, shared lunches, had leftovers & to-go desserts from TS meals for evening snacks, and still had credits to burn up on the last day. This trip is going to be even more food because we have more TS meals planned than we have credits for (3 signature dinners), so I'm sure we'll be making a visit to the candy store to spend snack credits on gifts for the kids to bring home to friends.

thanks everyone.:goodvibes

probably besides the occasional boozie drinks:rotfl: I don't really think we will have that much oop costs. lets hope not lol!!

Just returned from an 8-day trip and if you don't count $100 for alcohol at meals, we only spent about $14 OOP during the entire time. That was for 3 funnel cakes that weren't included in DDP. We found we had MORE than enough credits to never be hungry!

we have 9 adr's booked and one is CRT for a 7 night trip so we're planning 80 for extra dinners and maybe 20 for extra snacks. Last year, my dad kept buying bottles of coke saying that he didn't want to waste a snack on a $2 item. We ended up with 4 extra snack credits. So I'm planning for him to do that again.

We have used the dining plan before. It was more than enough food. Me, DH, DS 7, DD 6, DS 2 at the time. My youngest ate off of our plates. When we went to check out we still had 21 snack credits and 1 cs after a 6 night stay. I would consider us average eaters. There is a lot of food in this plan.

This year we sayed my 9 year is 10. for about $40.00 more for our 8 day free dining vacation he gets to eat on the adult menu. :cool1:
