(How much you want to bet that title got PopDaddy's attention
)
Seriously though, we were watching a tape of a tv show that we missed earlier in the week and DW Lauri was dozing off and having a hard time staying awake. All of a sudden she wakes up with a start, eyes wide open and says "I hear a baby!!" And this is a woman who took Hydrocodone for close to 3 yrs and supposedly had comprimised hearing from it? Yeah right, if anything it's made her hear better.
Yep, our momma cockatiel who just raised a clutch of three adorable babies went right back and laid another clutch of FIVE eggs before we could get the nesting box out.
Last night the first baby was born. He is the teeniest little guy I have ever seen - about the size of a big bumble bee and covered in yellow fuzz like a bumble bee - so we have decided for now to call him Bumble
Mom and Dad bird are much more relaxed with this clutch and had no issues with us looking in the box at this newborn. Guess already having been through the baby phase changes parents and relaxes them across the entire animal kingdom, huh?
Now, how do I keep DW Lauri from wanting to keep all 5 babies? We are keeping Kringle and Beaker from the first clutch and one of her employees will be taking "peewee" in about a week or so when he's ready to be on his own. That already puts us at 7 Cockatiels!
Hey, maybe one of the vendors at the Pet Expo we are working at today will have little birdy Chastity Belts so Momma bird won't do this again for a third time
