Ah yes. Somehow between two smart adults with college degrees, we didn't think through the fact that snowglobes contain WATER which is considered a LIQUID and therefore could not be put in a carry on bag on an airplane!!!
DOH!
Thanks to Disney's Magical Express leaving us tons of time at the airport, we fixed the problem and checked the bag containing the snowglobe. My mom was bringing home the oh-so-cute halloween snow globe in her carry on, and was told by security she couldn't take it on the plane. Well, she had already checked 2 bags so this little souvie was about to cost us a ton of money.
So she was pointed towards the post office area (not an "office" really- more of a station with envelopes). However she couldn't mail a package there. She tried at the United ticket counter and the woman was incredibly nice about it and let her check the extra bag with no charge! Yippee!
I did have the idea right before she got to the counter (I was on my cell on the other side of security waiting) that she could go to the Disney merchandise store in the airport to have them send it for her, but she had already been told she could check it.
The funny thing was, that as I was sitting against the wall after security stressing on the phone with her, I spotted a family seated across the way. A mom and two little girls with their Disney packages piled up and mom explaining to the children that daddy had to go back past security and figure out what to do with their snowglobe because they couldn't take it on the plane
At least we weren't alone!
Check your snowglobes people.
