Hubby just called and said that they resolved a disagreement with the hospital. They wanted him moved out to a nursing home or to his apartment on hospice care. The family really didn't want to do that at this point. They finally decided to move him to his apartment with hospice. he moved about 2 hours ago and it actually went much better than they anticipated and he was happy to be home and able to see the mountains and sunset. We are still waiting here. I am cleaning like crazy and sorting closets and drawers. All that nervous energy. It helps a bit to keep my mind busy. I just hope his passing is peaceful. He really was an amazing man. Grew roses in his garden that won all kinds of awards. I used to get a mayonaise jar full of roses of every color about once a week during growing season. Sometimes I would get dalhlias or gladiolis. He was always at the legistlature speaking about health care way back in 1980. Just really respect him and his life!!!

He's probably happier to be in the comfort of his home with his loved ones around him than in a sterile hospital room.

I'm sorry to hear about this.But he made his mind up of which way to go,and I respect that.Hospice is great dont get me wrong,but it only prolongs the -you know..Like Dan Murphey said,god speed!!

Hugs to you and all your family. Your fil sounds very dear and he made a courageous decision to die on his own terms. I know my wonderful fil, who is a retired physician and extremely clear about his wishes, would make the same decision.

My hubby called at midnight to say his father had passed. He said that his brother and sister and himself and his son were at his bedside. They had put in a CD of Celtic music and were just chatting and he took one last breath and passed peacefully. We are heading to Montana next Wed. They sounded so calm but sad. It was wonderful to have know this man. I will miss him terribly. Thanks to you who have sent your thoughts. I truly appreciate it.

So sorry about your dear FIL sweetie . He sounds like a wonderful man who enjoyed and lived life to the fullest, had made his peace, and was ready for his spiritual journey.
