My son is a cast member.

Yesterday while helping a guest, he put his sunglasses down, a guest stole them. These were an expensive pair of sunglasses bought for him by his girlfriend at Christmas.

We all know Disney cast members don't earn much and most of them go out of their way to help guests.

My son is so upset that someone would do this and so am I.

How does he know someone stole them? Perhaps there is video of this?

That's a shame. Alot of crimes are committed by those simply because they are of convenience and Disney is like a buffet of convenience for crimes to take place.

Did he check Lost and Found? Maybe a KIND-HEARTED guest thought they were lost and turned them in. Don't always think the worst!

Depending on where they were put down, they could have been kicked on accident, knocked over by a backpack if on a table etc.

Theft is often the blame when things are simply "lost".

Not saying thats the case here, just saying it's possible.

. . . he put his sunglasses down, a guest stole them . . .

1) This might be jumping to conclusions.
2) Possibilities
. . . they were taken by a guest
. . . thet were taken by a Cast Member
. . . they fell onto the ground
. . . they fell and were inadvertently kicked side by him or someone else
. . . they slipped between furniture, equipment, structures
. . . they were put down and he forgot them

Why does there have to be a video for him to know someone stole his sunglasses?

There doesn't. But video would show the perpetrator.
Plus it might help prove they were stolen (although not sure if that can be done-the person can just say that they were his/hers and they picked them up after putting them down).

Sorry they were missing (however they came to be missing).

I agree that it is both possible and PROBABLE that they were stolen.

I actually had someone argue with me on these boards that my souvenir cup which I placed on the shelves by the ride was not STOLEN (by another guest on the ride at the same time I was on the ride). Rather that the guest assumed I no longer wanted it because I didn't have possession of it on my person and that I had abandoned my cup, thus making it fair game to someone else who wanted it. I didn't ask the guest why she had my cup, but she admitted it wasn't hers and gave it back to me. Walks like a duck, talks like a duck - it's a thief.

Yes he checked lost and found.

No it couldn't have been another cast member, he was the only one there.

Yes, he searched for them, but, in spite of an extensive search, they were not found.

Sorry that your son no longer has his sunglasses. For the future, you may want to suggest to him that if needs to remove them, he place them on his head, in his shirt pocket or neck area, or get some "croakies" so that the sunglasses always stay in his possession.

Finders keepers, losers weepers. Possession is 9/10ths of the law.

So sorry to hear that. :-(

We had a camera stolen 2 trips ago. Sadly, we were less upset about losing the camera as we were about losing the pictures on the camera. It's like - couldn't you have at least left the smart card?!?!?!

Why is it so hard for people to think that someone stole them? People are so rude and self entitled. I'm sorry your son had to deal with a person like this.
