Ok, so the codes for AP are out and we are booked at the BWI waterview. Always wanted a balcony with a view! But, I could get the BWV 1bdr for roughly $500 cheaper. Should I do it? DH and I really wanted to be able to sit on the balcony and look over the water/fireworks while dd is falling asleep. Oh the indecision is killing me! Plus, I also could get Poly garden view for $800 cheaper, but I can't quite remember if they have balcony's or not. This is the first time we are going deluxe and our biggest thing was having a balcony with a view.

Someone please help! Thanks!

We had a lovely view of Illuminations from our balcony at the BW on our Disneymoon. If that's what you've been so looking forward to, then please go ahead and book it! Seems like it's important to you! :)

On the other hand, for $500 you could buy tons of souvies and simply sit on the BW benches and have a nice (but not quite as nice) view.

Oh and just because you would have a balcony, I don't think it guarantees you will have a view of Epcot.

Hope that helps a bit! (I'd just go ahead and get the balcony though) :)

Thanks- I think we also just wanted to be near Epcot. But the balcony thing is something that we've talked about for years. I like the simple fact that I can just go out there while our dd is going to sleep and not disturb her.

Really, I don't know if it is worth switching to BWV to save the $500, cause it would be parking lot view?

If it makes any difference, you will have a balcony if you book the BWV 1BR. You probably would either have a view looking toward Swan/Dolphin, or looking toward the resort entrance, as the boardwalk views can only be booked by DVC owners. But you would definitely have a balcony. Some people have said they can see some of the fireworks at Epcot from the balconies that face the entrance, but I would imagine you have to be on the top floor. I prefer the S/D view, and watching the boats going back and forth to the Studios.

As far as Poly, the original longhouses do not have balconies on the second floor. They have balconies on the third floor, and patios on the first floor. The newer longhouses have balconies on all floors.

Keep the BWI - consider it a special, one time opportunity to have the balcony with a fireworks view.

If you switch to the BWV 1 bedroom, you will have a balcony, but it will not have a fireworks view. Only DVC members have access to the BW view rooms and the rooms overlooking the entrance are almost always booked solid by DVC members, too (less expensive option for them). Your view will be one of the pools or the canal to the Studios. In most cases you will also have a view of the Swan/Dolphin Hotels across the canal. That said, with the 1 bedroom, you will have a king bed in the bedroom, a queen sized sleep sofa in the living room, a washer & dryer, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 TVs (one with a DVD player) and a jacuzzi tub.

I am unfamiliar with the Poly room types, so can't help you there.

Anyway, if the fireworks view is important to you, keep the BWI - you may not have another chance to have that. If the amenities of the 1 bedroom are important (and if it's $500 less expensive than the BWI room , it's a wonderful deal, IMHO), then switch to the BWV.
