So the general consensus seems to be The Who wasn't good last night...

2002 in New Orleans.

The Who is used for all the theme songs for all the CSI shows. Look at how many people said "ohh the CSI songs" and tell me that having The Who perform didn't promote CSI.

Yes I'm aware of that, and it certainly was fortuitous for CBS. The songs are used on CSI because they are iconic, instantly recognizable songs. I've been to Who concerts in four decades and you would not expect a Who performance to not include those songs. It just shows how popular they are. The last thing I would have thought of is CSI, but like you said some younger people obviously did.

I don't want to see current stars/one or 2 hit wonders.
Whoever needs to have a classic, longstanding presence in the music industry. Just not so old that half the band is dead, and the other half can't remember their own lyrics.

I'd love to see the Foo Fighters do it (they already had Prince cover one of their songs during a past halftime show and appeal to a wide cross-section of the audience)...

I thought the Foo Fighers covered Prince's song "Darlin' Nikki." I don't remember Prince covering a Foo Fighter's song at that halftime show.

My two cents:

I saw The Who back in the early 1970s (on tour for Who's Next). Great show.

I found last nights performance painful. Roger, bless his heart, simply did not have the range or lung capacity he used to. Pete Townsend? Please! The famous 'windmill' motion only works if you actually hit the blasted strings of your guitar. You are older; hit the chords.

It was a sad performance. Tribute bands do better.

I am sure they would disagree, but having died young we are left with marvelous memories of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janice Joplin, etc. Can you imagine if Morrison were still alive? He would have walked out on a Super Bowl stage, in his 60s, looking like a bloated Elvis (probably, given his habits), and then yammered out some sad version of Light My Fire.

I did enjoy Aerosmith a few years ago, and the Rolling Stones, so the oldies can, at times, bring it on.

Although an 'old man' by many demographics, I guess I would rather see the 'hot acts' of the day perform, such as Lady Gaga.

the who put me to sleep. i should of recorded it and any time i cant sleep i could watch it

Well, their voices weren't what they were a few decades ago, but I was too creeped out by Roger's bad face work to be put off by the singing. :scared: ACK! In his day, he was a thing of beauty. Now, I know we all age, but lord love him, he should have just aged and skipped the visit to what must be the same plastic surgeon who did Burt Reynold's and Madonna's work. :rolleyes1 It was baaaaaaaad. So very, very baaaaaad.

Why, Roger, why? :confused3

Wasn't too thrilled with the Who. But the stage setup and light FX were awesome! It seemed like they were doing too much CSI-hyping with their set.

I'd rather they skew a bit younger than they have the past few years. I liked Bruce Springsteen but did he have to do that microphone stand at the crotch act? :confused3

Lady Gaga would be too extreme for the Super Bowl.

Bon Jovi would be totally AWESOME!!!
