So the general consensus seems to be The Who wasn't good last night...

If you don't watch CSI (like we don't) if you're younger, you wouldn't have any idea who they were.

Not if you know anything about music. My 15 1/2 year old DD and her friends watching with us all knew "who" the Who were and they don't watch CSI. They also know the Beatles, Journey, Stevie Wonder, Foreigner, Boston, Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers and on and on... DH and I get the biggest kick when she comes to us and plays a song she's downloaded and asks "have you ever heard this song?" and then we show her we still have the vinyl album.

Well, I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say that I really liked The Who halftime show. As for people under 30 not knowing who they were, well my 13 yr old had no problem identifying every Who/CSI theme song! ;)

I enjoy it and thought that the stage was really cool too, wish I could of been there in person rather than watching it on TV - seems the entire stadium knew the songs they were singing! :thumbsup2

That is because their set was one giant CSI ad.

CSI is the only reason that they know the Who (and well the Wil.I.Am remix.)

I know many people who were at the Super Bowl and they all said it was totally lame and that the audience wasn't into it at all. 2 of my favorite tweets from a friend at the game.

This place is dead. Most underwhelming Super Bowl show yet. The crowd didn't move....nor care.

Is it me? Or, is the recpetion for the Who pretty apathetic? This stadium is loud...but far from rocking

I'd love to see the Foo Fighters do it (they already had Prince cover one of their songs during a past halftime show and appeal to a wide cross-section of the audience)...that might make me actually pay active attention to the halftime show for once. I was watching (albeit drunkenly) during the wardrobe malfunction halftime show and had no idea anything had even happened until the next day. Lol.

Foo Fighters would be killer! But then they are one of my fav bands! :)

I think the Aerosmith show they did a few years ago was the best half time ever.

I didn't mind The Who, as I knew all the songs they did (I'm 33, btw! :) ). But while I think they played very well, they just can't sing anymore. As people age, your voice just can't do the things it used to do when you were 20. Heck, I've heard that Jon Bon Jovi can't hit those high notes in "Living on a Prayer" anymore, either.

Does it really matter who plays half-time? Any artist you really like will be much better playing a full show on their own stage. There really is no one that interests people from 10-70. Maybe they should have Cirque du Soleil or some other type of entertainment. With respect to a musical performance, half-time at the super bowl is a non-event.

Someone who has had a hit in the last decade and isn't just one big ad for the network's biggest franchise?

The Who was a lame choice and I like The Who.

The Halftime show should be a reflection of current times. Some one who is relevant to the day. So what if that means Lady Gaga with the Jonas Brothers. What about a big country act?

The top sellers of 09 were Taylor Swift, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga...what about some kind of Michael Jackson tribute with contemporary artists.

Anything would be better that washed up classic rock artists.

ITA! That halftime show was not much more than a commercial for CBS's primetime shows.

The Who were good in their time, but their time has passed. They didn't even sound that good. Lately it seems there has been a huge need to return to the acts us "old folk" grew up with. Some things are better left in the past, and this was one of them. They sounded horrid, nowhere near as good as the band I grew up listening to.

The idea of returning to a combination of relevant performers, or even an "old time" act that is still actively recording (Bon Jovi, Kid Rock) seems, to me, a much better choice.

My 15-year-old knows who The Who is and it's not from watching CSI. Like suzannen's daughter, he knows a lot about music and is into a lot of kinds. I think his favorite band is Thrice this week and he went to see Between the Buried and Me this weekend, but he's got the a LOT of Beatles, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead and Doors on his Ipod.

Ac / dc

OT, why can't I capitalize all my letters?

I'll join you out on that limb.:cool1:

I hope its a strong tree because I'm joining ya'll on that limb. I loved the involvement of the fans. :thumbsup2

I thought the Who did a pretty good job. They sounded ok for an older band. Was it exciting? No...but they did sound ok.

I would like to see Fleetwood Mac or Aerosmith.

I thought their lighting was great. Easily one of the best we've seen. I was having fun trying to determine if Pete was actually playing. Who was the drummer? Was it Ringo's son? I haven't gone searching.

I thought they weren't bad for some guys who qualify for SS (if they were US citizens).

FYI My three boys (17, 14, 12) all know The Who songs, don't watch CBS/CSI shows.

I'd just like to see someone that is relevant. The Who is a total nobody as of today. Get an act that's current and not a washed up has-been.

Most people under the age of 30 probably didn't even know who they were. :confused3

I work at a college and my student workers were just talking about the performance because of the "CSI song" - they had no idea who the group was. :rotfl:

I loved Tom Petty last year. I think Bon Jovi or Aerosmith would be great.

U2 would be amazing, but they are probably too big for the Superbowl.

I think U2 has done a Superbowl show already

They didn't sound "great", but it sure beat having a lip-syncing pop-tart out there!

I don't watch CSI and I saw absolutely nothing like a "CSI commercial". What did I miss?

I thought they were great. My daughter, however, not so much!

We thought Pete and Roger WERE great!

I just wish they had the camera on Roger for his scream in "Won't Get Fooled Again" - DH were waiting to see if he would even try that. Roger sounds a lot rougher, but Pete can still hit the high notes.

As for who they should have next, I think Stevie Wonder will be great!
