So the general consensus seems to be The Who wasn't good last night...

Who would you like to see do the halftime show next year?

Someone suggested BonJovi and I think they would be GREAT! And we could only HOPE there was a wardrobe malfunction... ;)

As far as "contemporary" groups/artists I'm really not on top of them....

To me, halftime is the time to use the bathroom and re-stock my plate. The Superbowl is the only show on TV that no one leaves the room during commercials. :)

That is a hard one..I would love to see Bon Jovi.

I would have to say Daughtery (sp) if it was anyone new and more youth like.

I didn't even watch it. But, I will say that when many bands perform live in a stadium-type atmosphere and it is broadcast, it NEVER sounds good on TV. I've been to many a concert to see it broadcast on TV and the sound differences are amazing.

Having said that, I really like most of The Who's music but I do not like them live. Went to their concert back in the 80s and I thought they were a total bore live. Hard to believe...

I think the Superbowl half-time show should go back to be a mix of artists. There was one year when they had a bunch on stage--from No Doubt to Bono and singing together.

I think it should be a mix of artists together and some that will appeal to all--i.e., Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga. Then throw in a little of that Zac Brown band to cover the country music folks. Something along those lines.

:thumbsup2

Great thinking. I liked when it was a mix of artists. I felt more entertained.

As far as The Who - They were OK - I've never been a huge fan.

For some reason I thought Bon Jovi did Superbowl in the past but nope they didnt. I imagine they are in the future. Maybe they needed a year to space the NJ talent.

The Killers!

I also think Bon Jovi would be great.

Peter Gabriel

I know, he's old too, but the thought of an entire stadium singing "In Your Eyes" brings a tingle!:thumbsup2

Sounds good to me. :woohoo: Kind of surprised it hasn't happened since Jon is such a HUGE football fan and insider.

I was watching the Aerosmith halftime show on YouTube last night and that's the kind of show I miss. That year it was Aero, Brittany Spears, and NSync. Yes, I know, sounds crazy. But it was fun when they would do those goofy combos and it would work. Plus, something for everyone.

Someone who has had a hit in the last decade and isn't just one big ad for the network's biggest franchise?

The Who was a lame choice and I like The Who.

The Halftime show should be a reflection of current times. Some one who is relevant to the day. So what if that means Lady Gaga with the Jonas Brothers. What about a big country act?

The top sellers of 09 were Taylor Swift, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga...what about some kind of Michael Jackson tribute with contemporary artists.

Anything would be better that washed up classic rock artists.

I'd just like to see someone that is relevant. The Who is a total nobody as of today. Get an act that's current and not a washed up has-been.

Most people under the age of 30 probably didn't even know who they were. :confused3

LOL Sorry, I posted before I saw your post. I should have just given you a :thumbsup2. :rotfl:

I'd rather not see a bunch of 60+ year olds out there....

I understand that after the ****-shot of Janet Jackson they are playing it safe, but they could at least find someone that's been at least a little popular in the last 20 years or so. If this were a 1970's super bowl, The Who playing would have been a big deal...not so much for most people in 2010.

Lady Gaga is WAY to out there for their taste so no way or how she would get the gig...they could play it safe with Taylor Swift (although not really a 'football type' act - and she is not that great live from reports), I think Bon Jovi or Daughtry would both be safe choices that would at least be popular with people under 50.

Kid Rock would be good a good choice too....as long as you kept in him on 10 second delay in case he forgot he was on live TV.

Well, I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say that I really liked The Who halftime show. As for people under 30 not knowing who they were, well my 13 yr old had no problem identifying every Who/CSI theme song! ;)

I enjoy it and thought that the stage was really cool too, wish I could of been there in person rather than watching it on TV - seems the entire stadium knew the songs they were singing! :thumbsup2

I'll join you out on that limb.:cool1:

I'd love to see the Foo Fighters do it (they already had Prince cover one of their songs during a past halftime show and appeal to a wide cross-section of the audience)...that might make me actually pay active attention to the halftime show for once. I was watching (albeit drunkenly) during the wardrobe malfunction halftime show and had no idea anything had even happened until the next day. Lol.

If you don't watch CSI (like we don't) if you're younger, you wouldn't have any idea who they were.
