First let me say poor DH LOL. Now let me tell you how freaked out I was last night. Our cat Kipper sleeps next to me at night (his head on my pillow and the covers pulled up to his neck LOL). I woke up in the middle of the night (not sure why) and noticed Kipper didn't move at all. This kinda bothered me since he always at least lifts his head to see why I am disturbing his sleep. Well, my heart in my throat, I poked him and he still didn't move. I then lifted him up around his waist and he just flopped there limp. Have you ever picked up a dead animal? That is exactly how he felt..like he was boneless and soft *shudder*. After this I totally started freaking out. DH woke up because I went into a full panic attack. When he figured out what the heck my problem was, he shook the cat hard and this time Kipper actually woke up. Kip must have been in the deepest sleep I have ever seen. Poor DH had to calm me down and prove my baby really wasn't dead. I kept checking on him the rest of the night though. I never realized how attached I was to the cat LOL. I hope he never has that kind of deep sleep again..

I'd love to be able to be in a deep sleep like that!! :ssst:

Poor Kipper. He must have been like "What are you freaking about, crazy lady?!?! Can't a cat get some sleep around here???" ;)

I would have freaked too, probably. Amazing how attached we get to our furbabies. A couple weeks ago the dog didn't meet us at the door, and I panicked (he's old). I went running through the house looking for him. Turns out one of us didn't close the bedroom door all the way and he was sacked out on the bed. :teeth:

I would have panicked too. Glad he's ok. Furbabies are family too! Hugs. :grouphug:

I've done that to our cat too :rotfl2: The poor guy was like "what the heck?!!" I'm glad that Kipper is OK!

As a side note, our 2 had me in a panic attack at around 3AM last night also. I woke up and neither of them were in our bed. They ALWAYS sleep with us. I panicked that I'd left a door open or something (they're indoor cats). Of course, once I got up to check on them, they both woke up and our female was pesky for the rest of the night :rolleyes2

My old lady cat is very hard of hearing and sometimes doesn't wake up when I touch her either and I panic. I'll sort of shake her and she'll look at me like I'm nuts.

Bagheera (my black cat) used to do that all the time as a kitten. My heart would completely stop while I poked him and shook him and tried to wake him up. It doesn't help that this crazy cat sleeps on his BACK so he really looks dead. I still poke him awake whenever I see him sleeping like that.

Our cat, Marco Polo, sleeps like that all the time. I'd love to be able to sleep like that. But there are times it does kinda freak me out because we can pick up up and she's all limp and "boneless."

I do that, too, sometimes. I'll wake up and if I can't actually see the cat breathing, he gets poked and prodded til he wakes up. Then he's usually so perturbed that he jumps off the bed and leaves the room.

Now, everyone realizes that if you poke and prod the cat to make sure he's still alive, you have nothing to complain about when he does the same to you at 4AM, right? :rotfl2: Maybe our cats think the same thing when they see us sound asleep..."oh, no! She's dead! I must pounce on her NOW to save her!!" :rotfl:

Too funny!! That's a good explanation.
