I had a new cable hookup installed last week. When they hooked it up, I lost the ability to tape cable shows on my VCR. I called the cable company, and they sent a guy out today to restore that capability. I told the guy that I wanted to be able to watch one show while recording another. This is a VCR function that has been available since I bought my first one in 1980. It was working fine until I had the 400 channel deal installed. The cable guy told me that it required a different connection, but he had the time to deal with it because he had 1.5 hours left "on the clock", and I was his last call for the day. I sat and chatted with him for a few minutes, but rather than be hovering over him, I came downstairs to get out of the way. Over the subsequent hour or so, I was all over the house. I noticed he had gone to his van, and could see him doing his paperwork. A few minutes later, the van was gone! I don't know what he did to my setup. He may have set it up for the desired results, but he just left without giving me any instructions
I will experiment with the VCR and cable box, but I feel like he should have reviewed with me what he did. I don't know for a fact he did what I wanted
I'll mess with it, but I am not in the mood to explore the possibilities tonight.
