so it looks like i've finally decided on our dates.
we're planning on going 12th to 28th september this year, tell me the good and the bad things about going at this time?!?
what are the crowds like? whats the weather like, how often does it rain?
thanks in advance!

Crowds are very low. It is still very hot and humid. Some afternoons you will get a lot of rain for a couple of hours other days you will get none. If you are unlucky you might feel some effects of hurricanes around the area but Orlando rarely gets a direct hit.

September is my number 1 choice of time of year to go:thumbsup2

I went in Sep last year. Weather was perfect - lots of sun, and then the most amazing storms to sit and watch from the pool in the evening. The crowd levels were v.low

We didnt see 1 love bug-which I believe I have heard can be a problem at that time of year.

A fab time of year!!!

Karen Sept is our No.1 choice! Last year our first week was blistering, hottest we have ever had it,our day at Aquatica was 114 :scared1:The end of our middle week was overcast towards the end but not alot of rain & the last week was hot but not as hot as the first week.6 out of 8 Sept trips have been no problems & that is including Hurricane Jeanne which kept us in the hotel for 2 days but we have also had 2 washouts!
Crowd levels are really good & in most cases you'll walk straight on,just plan your days right-busy days give that park a miss.
HTH SD:thumbsup2

We did almost those exact dates (13-27) and found the crowds very light most of the time (EMH mornings and evenings were a bit busy but those can be easily avoided), weather very hot and humid and not that different to when i've visited in June/July/August. We were very lucky with the rain and it was mostly just storms at night with very little in the day, though I have heard of it raining a lot in September for others. We noticed lovebugs during the last few days but TBH they didn't really bother us, wouldn't put us off going in September in the future.

We always visit in September. Last year there were two storms in the evening, the rest of the time the weather was perfect. Still seriously hot, like an earlier poster we to were at Aquatica when the temp hit 114.

The crowds are very low. We just avoid parks at the weekend when all the locals are out and all's well for a fortnight.

Going back on sept 13th. Can't wait.

sept is our preferred dates as well. we got married last year and the weather was great.

We also were in the hotel for 2 days during jeanne but that didnt put us off.

The crowd levels are great which is why we like it

We are booked 27th aug to 12th sept this year to cover our anniversary

We love September the crowds are more manageable and sometimes you can just walk on to a ride with no wait. The weather last time we went in September was less humid generally speaking but still nice warm days with a shower of rain mid-afternoon. There is more time to take everything in and enjoy all of the details you miss when touring "en mass" and you'll appreciate it all so much more. The servers tend to be less stressed everywhere and it's a perfect time to take small children they get so much pleasure from having a relaxing time too the lack of crowds is great you can let them run around a bit and let off some steam without worrying too much. All in all we love September and this year we are really going to fully enjoy the holiday with less to worry about this year.
The only down side I can think of is:- (1) a couple of things may be having rehabs that you may have wanted to do and (2) if you are staying off site some free hotel shuttles don't run quite as often in the quieter weeks but you can work around this too.

For the last 5 years we have gone in September and we love it, we are going end of Aug beginning Sept this year due to DS and school leave.

The crowds/rides are very manageble:goodvibes

We're going 15-29th September and can't wait!!! Am very much looking forward to the trip. We came away from a previous Sept trip with days left on our disney tickets as no liens meant we got round everything so much faster!

Crowds are low, weather is nice and warm but I wouldnt say unbearable I am very fair skinned however didnt use sun protection hardly last year. Last year it rained 3 afternoons twice it bucketed it down with some lightening and thunder and then once just heavy rain.

Its a great time to go if we can free up some money then we will be back again this year!

Glad to know all these good vibes because we are going for our first time for 3 weeks between Sep 4 - 25. I had researched it a few years back when we first planned to go but it is nice to know that the decision is still correct for us.

Thanks for asking the question :thumbsup2

I'm going on those exact same dates!

I'm hoping for not much rain during the day - fingers crossed! :lovestruc

DD and I are going for our first mom and daughter only trip from 18 - 26th September - we can't wait!! :thumbsup2

Well we love September! We always choose this time and wouldn't want to risk trying any other time just in case it wasn't the same!

Parks are quiet no long queues, the weather is still hot but not July hot.

Florida likes to rain for about 20 mins and stop again. Its so much nicer than English Rain as its lovely and warm! Afterwards you can see it steaming off the pavement!

Like the previous poster off site hotels do not run shuttles very often so be aware. we found on our first trip that the times were not suitable so we used the public transport.

have a great time we will probably see you their as we are going 10-24!

September is amazing!

We were there Sep 17th - Oct 1st last year and are planning to go again next year the same kind of time.

The weather is lovely, last year in our 2 weeks we had one afternoon of rain.

Plus the end of September means HHN and Food and Wine Festival!!! (And my birthday, and nothing beats being in Orlando on your birthday!)
