So tell me about Pleasure Island...

kstinw19, I disagree that Pleasure Island has become a teen hangout. I don't doubt what you saw; but whatever those "kids" did it must have been pretty serious to get pounced on by Orange County deputies. (not Orlando PD) Nonetheless, effective 1/1/07 all clubs became 21+ again following a few years where those under the drinking age could enter a few of the clubs. So there is no real reason for teens to hang out at PI. Sure, there will always be some.

Well, I am certainly glad that they changed it back to 21+ everywhere and I really hope that it discourages all the teens from going there. I don't know what those individuals did to get arrested by Orange County cops, but I do know that my husband, brother and sis-in-law and I did not feel safe there at all that night.

I hope they restore it to what it once was. I miss dancers on the main stage at Midnight...I miss the dancers period. Now at Midnight, it's just some dj on the stage counting down...no more confetti...nothing...so disappointing.

But I am willing to give it another chance...:thumbsup2

Disney has been trying a variety of approaches to making PI more popular; opening the island to everyone did bring in more foot traffic and they've renovated the building that once held some shops and a fast food restaurant and plan to reopen it this summer. But both stages are now gone and there is a more line-of-sight for pedestrians to move between Downtown Disney Marketplace and Downtown Disney Westside, via PI. But without a club pass, there currently is little to do at PI and no reason to hang around. I agree that 21+ for the clubs is appropriate and was a positive step. No more midnight fireworks but I really don't miss it. There are some dancers on stage at Mannequins from time to time. I've never felt unsafe at PI and sorry that you had a bad experience. Between the sheriff's deputies and dozens of uniformed and ununiformed Disney security personnel, it's a very safe place in my opinion.

I second the motion on ducklite's suggestion of the Wall Street Plaza in downtown Orlando. It can be a fun (and crowded) place. Downtown O-town has a LOT (and I do mean a LOT) of nightclubs but it's generally a very young crowd (18-30) down there.
