We're thinking of taking a short trip to the World in Feb. 06. We have a credit with Independence Air and we can't let it go to waste , can we? So what better way is there than to take another trip to our favorite place!! :cloud9: We've never been in the winter. How's the crowds and the weather? Is it warm enough to swim?
Much rain? What's the chance of snagging a discount that time of year? Can anyone share their experiences? Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Hi,

If you do a search on this board you will find many other threads on the topic. Basically, crowds will be light as long as you avoid President's Day weekend and the first few days after the holiday.

Weather is completely unpredictable. You could have days in the 80s or you could have mornings near freezing and afternoons struggling to get to 50.

We have been the past two years in February and it was wonderful. We have also been in May and August. The parks are not crowded at all in February. The weather was great both years. We wore shorts and t-shirts during the day and added a sweatshirt at night. The water in the pool is heated and feels great while you are in but is a little chilly when you get out. We just got out and went straight to the room. My 5 year old ds loved it. We never had a line for any ride. I would have to say that February is definately my favorite time to go.

The rain seems to be extremely minimal. I only go in Feb. and Sept.

It's also value season, so you have that on your sides. In the morning, it's downright cold. I had to buy a sweatshirt my first day because of this...At around 11 it gets back to normal Florida heat and stays that way usually until sundown...that's what I found out at least. Go the 1st week of February so you don't have to deal with the cheerleaders...believe me, you'll thank me.

I highly recommend this time of year...We have been lucky and had perfect weather...especially this past february (we left before presidents day weekend)...everyday was in the low 80's, not a cloud in the sky, not a drop of rain. Most evenings required a light sweater, but that was about it.

The crowds were more than managible and never waited more than 20 minutes for anything, we also used fastpass when approriate.

In 2004 we went in early march, before spring break and again had great weather, no rain, and no crowds.

Dont get me wrong, there were plenty of people around...

Honestly, I cant imagine going any other time of year, expect for maybe the fall (although i havent tried it yet).

We went end of Feb. in 2002 tuesday we went to MGM all our pics we are in shorts. Wed we went to the beach and a cold front came in. We were at the beach in coats. And on Thur. we went to MK it was so cold we were in sweatshirts. We still laugh at our funny pics.

I agree completely, as we have been there the last 2 February's as well. Stayed at AKL and laid out by the pool most every day! You'll love it!! ::MickeyMo

I go every year on the first weekend in Feb and it's great. Small crowds, mild weather and cheap prices.

From what I have been able to find the cheerleaders will be there . . .

January 13-16 - College Cheerleading and Dance Team
February 3 - 6 - National Dance Team
February 10 - 13 - National High School Cheerleading
March 10 - 13 - National All Star Cheerleading

Oddly enough I should be AT Disney from January 23rd till February 3rd. Can we say perfect planning? Especially since this was penciled in before I found the cheerleading dates. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

As far as weather goes we have been there only during January and February and only once have we had really cold weather. (Try standing at a bus stop at Disney after a night show in the snow! ) As a rule you might need a sweatshirt for a night show but during the day you should be fine to go but as others have said Florida weather changes almost as fast as you can blink. We are from Ohio so we can generally swim and enjoy the warmer weather but I must warn you that sometimes the run from the pool to the room is rather cold.

As far as crowds the longest line we have ever had would have been 25 minutes for Test Track the year it opened. We pretty much walk on to everything else. You should see some pictures I have of mid-day Epcot, there isn't another person in sight. :earseek:

Go and have a great trip!
