For our April trip. No Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks at MK. No Spectro, no COP, No Legend of the Lion King. I will stay upbeat with all the other wonderful things at Disney.

Yes, Legend of the Lion King has closed for a new attraction, but I'm almost positive there will be Fantasy in the sky fireworks and Spectro Magic Parade at least on a saturday nights.

What Belle said! Legend of the Lion King is gone for good, but it will be replaced by a 3D show that will appeal to a larger variety of people. I'm sure Spectro and Fantasy will run on Saturday.

Is this the Lion King Show at AKL or the one in Mk? Oh, please, please, please let the one at AKL still be on!:)

MICOL, what a wonderful attitude. With an attitude like that, your vacation has no choice but to be magical.

I have found that when I have left myself open to new experiences, magic seemed to happen in the unlikeliest of places... Sitting in a rocking chair on the porch of the restaurant next to Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness... Riding in an elevator with a couple of teenage girls in pajamas who were just riding the elevator up & down all night for the heck of it (at the BW)... Playing pool games with children 1/4 my age (I didn't know a swimming pool could be full of so much laughter -- from me, no less)... Little things like that just made my vacation memories more special. Of course I really missed SpectroMagic when it was gone a year or two ago, but compared to the laughter of a freckle-faced boy in the Contemporary pool, I think I'd take the laughter any day.

dh and I were lucky enough to see bother SpectroMagic and Main Street Electrical Light Parade. We have done Fantasy in the Sky and Illuminations a couple times too. dd was SpectroMagic and Fantasy in the Sky and Illuminations too. ds (only 15 months old at the time of last trip) saw Illuminations but not Fantasy in the Sky. We went in April and it was only scheduled one night during our trip. We were going to see it, but we were too tired and ds was the only one who didn't see it, beeing 15 months old, I thought he'd be okay to miss it LOL! Before we went last year, I would have been devastated to think of not seeing the MK fireworks, but once I was there and sooo busy enjoying everything else, the fireworks didn't matter. We are going again this April, MK fireworks are schedule two night during our trip at 9pm so I think we'll try to see it. But it would be okay if we don't! Lots of other cool stuff to do and see! Sandra

Hi! How do you know what nights MK fireworks will be held during April? We'll be there April 19-28. Is there a website that lists this information? Thanks!:)

Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks are scheduled for Monday, the 22nd. The MK will be open from 9-9p.m. So far, no Spectromagic for the dates you're there. :(

Thanks, Disney Fool! (I feel funny calling you that!) But where do you get this information -- do you just call someplace? Thanks again.:)

Tee-hee, I am a 'fool' for Disney, so it's appropriate. I'm going the same dates as you are. You can call (407) WDISNEY and ask for the times. They are up to date. There has also been a change at the end of the week. Saturday, the 27th, the MK is open now until 8 p.m. I'm hoping they'll add Spectromagic to the Monday (22nd) or that Saturday schedule.

I know how you feel!! :(
But you will still have a great time.
Last year, after we had finalized our plans for the end or April and first week of May, we found out it was Grad Night weekends. Therefore......NO parades, NO fireworks, and NO castle shows. Boy was I disappointed. But we still had a fantastic time.
Are you going during Grad Nights??? This could be why, they have lighting and junk set up in front of the castle for the special grad night shows etc.
Boy that was also a let-down......all that "junk" in front of the castle! Very Poor !!

BUT......like I said.....we still had a FANTASTIC time!!! The crowds were light, except on Sat and weather fantastic.!

have a great trip:D

My son and I will be there Apr 24-28. I emailed WDW yesterday about my dissatisfaction with the MK hours and lack of "noghttime magic" while we'll be there. I do understand that Grad nights are being held that weekend, but I just can't believe they need to close at 6:00 everynight except Saturday. I implored them to reconsider lengthening the hours on Friday until 8:00. If the resorts are as full as we think they'll be....9-6 at MK will not be adequate. In any case, they'll know how I feel about it. -HM

I know that the DIS has a site that you can put in your dates and they try to predict times compared to last year if WDW hasn't officially listed the dates that you are looking for, but since "9/11" and the drop in the economy, they just aren't as predictable.

My favorite site for dates and times in an easy to read and access is the link below. I don't see April, yet. Before "9/11" they would usually have one or two months in advance.

www.themeparks.com/wdw/calendar/default.htm

Here is the official Walt Disney World link, but you have to click each date to see if the FitS fireworks is scheduled. Not as good for printing as the one above.

And here is the DIS site:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm

I hope that this helps. Sometimes WDW changes their hours based on attendance, so when yo get there, ask several people at the specific park. Some don't know or have old information. "9/11" and the economy has changed a lot of the consistency, but everyone is right. There are so many things to do everynight. Illumination/Fantasmic fireworks, Boardwalk on the lake, Downtown Disney/PI/MP, etc.

I hope that you all have a wonderful, magical Walt Disney World family vacation.

Janet 2K,
I loved your post and agree totally with you! Some of my favorite memories are "simple ones" - building a sandcastle with my daughter on the GF beach while we waited for the EWP, and watching her roast marshmallows for the first time at the campfire & movie at FW. I cherish the times we squeal together in delight while going down the slides at the resort pools. The theme parks, parades, light shows, etc... are awesome experiences, but the "little things" are what make my heart smile.:)

I agree, the one thing I really enjoy that alot of people miss is just looking around at all the Magic. Waiting in line I see people complaining, I learned right away enjoy whats around you. Have the kids look for Hidden Mickey. It odd that Grad Nights stop all the night events, we just miss the 4-15-02 show. Oh well I liked Illuminations and Fantasmic just as much.

Eloquently stated and Absolutely "ON THE MARK" TWOOD! Your post brought tears to my eyes...as I sat and recalled all the "simple-yet magical" moments shared with my DD over the past decade at WDW. Holding her closely as we watched the night sky over the castle from a bench in the MK, the late night bus rides where she would drift off asleep after a mystical eve at a park, the delight in seeing a character and obtaining an autograph, riding in the front of the monorail on a picture perfect summer day, sharing an alien leg (Turkey leg) together, even feeding the ducks some leftover popcorn, etc. These are the moments I tend to recall as most precious to me. These are definitely the moments which make my heart smile, and my soul dance. Years from now...they will undoubtedly bring the same sense of joy and desirable comfort. Thanks for reminding me....it's the "little things" which are important. The best things in life are not "things", they are the FREE moments you have described so well. God Bless you...You've made my day!;)

I was alittle disappointed for about a second or two then I thought I will be going to WDW and it isn't going to be so hot that you need gallons and gallons of water. DD and the graduating class of Lenape HS are going to WDW 4/9 -4/13. The kids are so excited and I am hoping I get to see them having a great time. Our school doesn't have a special night they get to stay at the park late so some of the kids may be disappointed. Epcot is open until 9PM . I hope that they will have the EWP. I would like to see it our first night. Well I hope everyone has a grand time while you are in WDW and maybe we will get lucky and the parks will stay ope a little later than they are saying. I do think it is odd that the are charging peak season rates and then not giving peak season value.

The last weekend in April is a Grad Nite. We had booked the Contemporary Tower to see the fireworks at MK, etc. as a birthday present for our son. Then I found out no fireworks, no SpectroMagic and the possibility of the noise of Grad Nite keeping us up! Oh well, I said, let's find someplace else. We switched to Coronado Springs and will spend more of our time at Epcot and MGM. We'll still have a great time! :) Someday though I'm gonna stay in the Tower and watch the fireworks - LOL! ;)

I dont like the Lion King but i really like COP , Timekeeper and Skyway. Bring those 3 back
