First I am very happy at the new measures taken at the airports. I would rather spend hours checking in than never make it to Orlando. With that said, what do we do now if the new restrictions are still in effect in October? If we can't bring sunscreen, water etc. etc. How are people planning on getting these items to use in Orlando? We have already booked DME so no grocery stops and buying everything liquid at WDW or the airport would spend most of our spending money just to have shampoo. So far the news is conflicted on if you can check these items but what are you all planning on doing if you can't check them?

I know this sounds paranoid when my trip is still over 2 months away but with over half my travel party in Alaska, trying to plan in 2 time zones we need plenty of planning time and time to alter our schedule if necessary.

Thanks

Thoughts and thanks for the UK Authorities

I think you can bring them, they just have to be in your checked luggage, not your carry on stuff.

As far as I understand you will be able to bring these things with you just not in your carry on. You will have to pack all those things in your checked luggage. I am not so worried about shampoo, lotion, etc. as I am about things like my camera and cell phone but I do agree that these precautions are better than having something horrible happen.

It is only banned from carry on, you can still bring what you need in your checked luggage.

Yep, I was wondering about the cameras, ipods, laptops too. Can you take a laptop as a carry on? I wasn't sure if that was a rule only for flights from the UK to US right now, or a new permanent measure. I'd be afraid to check some of that stuff...

CNN said that the bombers planned to mix the items to create the explosives while on the plane, which is why things can go into carry-on. Seperately, they can't explode. They also said that the plan was to have all the planes explode at the same time. Can you imagine? The loss of life would have been horrifying.
I don't know how they found out about this before it happened, but whoever did it deserves our thanks.

I am all for doing whatever it takes to make flying as safe as possible. That being said, I almost always fly with only a small carry-on suitcase so I guess I will have to check my bag now if these restrictions remain in effect. I love not having to wait at baggage claim....gives me more time to have fun in WDW :)

Electronic equipment is still allowed as carryons in the US. Liquids have to be in checked luggage. These measures are to be in effect for at least 72 hours, maybe more. I think it's too soon to start worrying about things. I just found out yesterday that my husband will be doing extensive traveling for his work. He would normally take one carryon bag since he's only gone for a day or two. He can't do that now. We'll adjust and adapt and move on.

I thought the one plot the was foiled in the Philippines was with a casio watch to detonate - they came back and this plot involved 2 different liquids, so they were going to use a sports drink bottle - adding something to it dyed red ( :confused3 sorry I dont know any more than what I saw on tv!) then attatch wires stick it in the bottle, and to their CAMERA!! Great, a camera!! first the watch, then the key fobs, and now cameras!! What I cant think of... is a lot! :confused3

oh, and I have always (past tense of course!) carried on liquor - esp an unopened bottle of champagne... *sigh... now I hope to use the gardengrocer.com website, they only charge $10 to deliver groceries to your resort - because of age limits, they will do the special order if you are there to verify your over 21, from what I've read!

I am Fed-Exing, as I always do when I travel, a parcel containing sunscreen, hair care products, tampons, granola bars, Pop Tarts, my cameras, and this year our costumes for MNSSHP. I Fed-Ex the box back home before we check-out. Simple as pie...no wait, and extra room for clothes and souvenirs!!!

Ps...
Kudos to Scotland Yard for busting the plot!
Also the CIA!!!!
They saved countless lives and the UK's and our economies!
