I've been depressed and "not myself" for a long time, missing my home and my family. I was at a crossroads, loving my career (I am a flight attendant), but hating how much it takes me away from those I TRULY love.

After months of vacillating and weighing the pros and cons, and with the full support of my wonderful husband, I have decided that I will be giving up my career to be home with my loved ones.

It is VERY bittersweet. I DO, however, have something to look forward to, as we are trying to start a family. That will now become MY full-time job! (Lucky DH! ;) )

I've put in some applications for some seasonal positions, and a few clerical jobs in different cities in my area, but in the meantime, I will enjoy the holiday season with my family.

I give my two-week notice today. VERY nervous. My whole life is changing!

Everyone, keep me in your thoughts today as I take this leap, and send pixie dust wishes that I hear back... eventually... from the places I sent in applications.

Oh yes, one more thing... send PINK pixie dust thoughts, too... princess: ;)

Good luck with whatever cards you are dealt. Just keep in mind everything happens for a reason and if it were meant to be it will happen no matter what you chose.

I made a pretty big career change about 10 years ago. Now I look back and don't know why it took so long to make the change!

Good luck :thumbsup2

Good luck! Can I also mention that I'm just a wee bit jealous too? I dislike my job intensely but I can't quit without another job until March. I'm impatient!

I stayed home with DS for a while and it was nice to not have to deal with daily job hassles. You will probably miss some people for a while but it'll be nice to move on to new adventures too.

I wish you the BEST of luck!! I can only hope that one day, this will be my job too.

Sending pixiedust: and lots and lots and lots of pink wishes!

I'll pray March gets here FAST!!! Hurry up, MARCH!!! ;)

And you are right, it IS my co-workers I will miss the most. :sad1: But it will be nice to start fresh and meet new people, too!

Good luck with your decision!! I hope you can start your family as soon as you'd like! Lots of princess: wishes!! (But princess: or not-- wishes for a healthy baby and easy pregnancy!)

I quit my demanding, high stress (high paying, too) job when I was 23 to be a stay at home mom. It was the best decision I ever made! There were a few lean years while we learned to curb our spending and learned to live on one pay check, but within a few years we were wealthier than we'd ever been when both of us worked. Those years staying home with my DD were priceless. You're going to love it. Good luck. :goodvibes

OP, I just want to share I was in a similar situation 13 years ago.

I had been at my job for 10 years and was going on three years of infertility. I was away on vacation with my girlfriend and after a lot of soul searching decided to quit my job in order to start a family. Although I loved my job and the people I worked with, it was incredibly stressful (very similar to working for an understaffed Child and Family Services type agency). I figured coming home crying almost daily wasn't helping the fertility issues.

I gave my one month notice after the first of the year, quit my job and became pregnant immediately.

Thinking of you and sending pixie dust your way! pixiedust:

:goodvibes Thank you for this!

Good luck! :) I like staying at home. It's trying at times with a kiddo or two, but so worth it.

Oh, I want to add that *blue* isn't too bad either... ;) Little boys loooove their mommies! Have fun TTC! :)

Good luck with your decision and lots of pink pixie dust being sent your way! pixiedust:
