and I never really had any clue how much I used it because I am LOST without it! Guess who will be buying a new microwave tomorrow?

Ain't that the truth. I remember re-heating foods as a kid before microwaves. When ours died, I had to try to remember how to do that. Somethings just reheat way better in microwaves than any other way. :thumbsup2

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking....how do I heat soup? :lmao:

The old one lasted at least 15 years. I was looking at reviews for buying a new one and all the people were saying things like, I got this one. It lasted a year. etc etc. Very disheartening.

It's amazing how cheap they have become. 16 years ago ours bit the dust and we bought a better one for around $200.00. That replaced a top of the line amana bought in the mid 70s for close to $900.00.

:sad2: Your poor, poor microwave. It's important that you don't forget any of the memories.

Same thing happened to us. Ours died and DH went and bought a new one the next day. You just don't realize how much you use one on a daily basis, until it breaks.

I have been without a microwave for months! I got to the point where I didn't even miss the microwave. Yes, you can live without one! I kept having other expenses come up so the purchase of a microwave was delayed many times. I had an over-the-range microwave- the keyboard wouldn't work correctly. The one I wanted cost $278 plus $120 to install (Sears wanted $149 to install!). So it was a good chunk of change. The microwave went on sale for $240 and Appliance Direct offered me $220 and they only charge $85 to install. And I did get an extended warrenty. The consumer reviews for all over-the-range microwaves are pretty bad- they don't last.
They just installed it this morning. I am so excited to have a microwave again!!!

Maybe it's not dead but just needs a new fuse. We have replaced fuses on 2 of ours over the years ...
