So much for Homeland Security

Funny how VH just skipped over the fact presented by inaminute about the flight crew having run its time and a new crew had to be brought in due to federal regulations.

Oh and as for your question to me, VH, I don't know what happened, I wasn't there. I am not one to jump to wild conclussions based on little information, and in your case, little knowledge about Homeland Security, the FAA and the TSA. Nor do you know security directives and airline regulations as related to the United States.

Aren't you tired of all this yet?

"Ellsworth controls all air space 40 miles around the base and clears landings at both the civilian airport and the base."

I promise when all is said and done, and the powers let us know what they want us to know, we will be none the wiser. I do know this, if this ATCT handles all traffic into the airforse base and the public airport as stated in the report, they knew where this plane was, and where it should land.
Now, if it mistakingly landed at a AFB, I'm pretty sure the people in the cockpit will get the ax and fines. My point is nearly all airtraffic controllers are x-military and if there was a med. emergancy it would not take 30 seconds to land the plane at the correct airfield.
Another possiability would be if some type of problem at the correct airport prevented the landing. But why would they replace the current poilt and co-pilot with "new" ones for the short trip to the correct airfield?
Sounds like someone made a big mistake! If anyone is intrested as to how I come up with my opinions, PM me and I'll tell you where I work.

Whats that got to do with landing at the wrong airport

Fair enough PM on the way :wave2:

If the crew had already spent x amount of time in the air and then x amount of time being questioned on the ground, then the crew would have ran their allotted time, perhaps.

And gee, I wonder where supergoof works. ;) Not everyone throws around ATCT. :p

Thanks supergoof for the PM and i agree 100%

If the crew had already spent x amount of time in the air and then x amount of time being questioned on the ground,

Again MissJ you fail to notice how they landed there.

It has nothing to do with landing at the wrong airport. I was addressing your statement (Post #15) as follows:

Well there doesn't seem to have been anything wrong with the Aircraft.

Eventually, the captain and first officer were replaced by a different Northwest crew for the short hop to the right airport

For God's sake VH I know what happened. They landed at the air force base and not the regional airport. If the pilot did screw up, or perhaps under the influence of something, or was having a medical emergency, or who knows what other reasons including Northwest just wanting to cover its but, the pilot and first officer were replaced. Blah blah.

Yes the whole flight crew was not replaced, I saw that, too. I can read.

My whole point is WHY THE HECK DO YOU EVEN CARE??????

Van Helsing cares because it happened in the United States. He wants yet another opportunity to bash the Bush Administration in any manner that he can.

The fact that no one in the current government was flying the plane matters little - because it happened on Bush's "watch"; somehow the administration's policies must be blamed for this.

Yet another reason why I rarely post anything on the "Debate" boards - the "I hate Amercia" faction drives me nuts.

sounds like they probably have commercial and private air traffic near the base all the time..

if they came out of the clouds saw the runway and landed right away...when exactly did they have time to scramble fighters...

where was the breakdown in Homeland Security..it seems to me you're making something of nothing...

i wonder what side of his mouth VH will be talking out of if he has to spend some extra time in customs on his up comming trip?
cant wait to see what he thinks of homeland security after that?

Why do i care - because it might be me on that plane

the next quote is from another thread VH started about his up comming trip

Are you sure - because i might have to bring my bag of tricks with me

just by those 2 quotes of yours VH, i am hoping in not on the same plane as you!!!
sounds like you may have some nasty things planned!!!

He doesn't know he's right, EsmerldaX. Apparently, by virtue of him saying that I'm wrong, it must be true. I refuse to get into a tit-for-tat with him over it - not worth my time.

Van Helsing's record of bashing nearly everything that the Bush Administration does/doesn't do stands as it is. Nothing more need be said.

I have been looking for information on this and can't really find any. It wasn't in our local newspaper, so I checked the MSNBC website and couldn't find anything. I also watched headline news and it wasn't listed in their top stories. I guess I'm surprised that if this was a serious breach of security that the top media outlets aren't focusing on it.

VH needs to be more careful as to what he posts. That last quote sounds like he might planning some terrorist activities. If I were in charge of this board, I'd think about reporting this.

Aww DukeStreetKing the only thing in my bag is some Garlic Bulbs + some crosses a small mirror and a bottle of water.

Nothing worth shouting about unless your a Vampire pirate:

BTW, the distance between the airports is maybe 5 miles. At 150 mph (approximate landing speed for most passenger planes), that's 2 minutes warning. What would you expect to happen in 2 minutes?
