So many ride closures!!!

Yes, I'm sure staffing is a big part of it...... BUT, machinery that was running every single day for hours and hours, got shut down for a year + !! I think that must have had a huge affect on all the moving parts, etc. once it was back up running again (not a light switch !)

I realize that it's not applicable to other attractions, but my son is a former theater tech at Animal Kingdom and he talked to friends down in Orlando after the shutdown started. One of them worked on Rivers of Light and he said that there were literally no procedures to power down the show. Normally, all of the computers, servers, floats, etc. remained in an "on" state at all times. When they got the word that the parks were closing for an extended period, the show techs were told to just run around and hit the power switches on everything. It's not known, but there's a decent chance that the extra effort needed to try and get everything restarted and working together again may have been one of the factors in the show's retirement.
