so is there such a thing as an OKW studio balcony that has a wide-open pretty view?

it looks like almost all OKW studios are end units. from what i've read here, end unit studio balconies are noisy/unsightly from air conditioning units and/or thick untrimmed trees/vegetation growing right up next to the balcony blocking light/views. also, they're the units most likely to be closer to the road/parking lot/bus stops. and, any potentially good view is obstructed by that 1-bdrm living room jutting out next to the studio balcony.

i did notice from Doc's OKW config that there are exactly 4 buildings that have some non-end-unit studios. is this where we can find decent studios w/ good balconies/views? *sigh* but it's ridiculous to even expect to actually be able to get a studio in any of these 4 buildings 'cause the chances are just too low, right?

why is OKW so cruel to us "studio trash"? ( at the term "studio trash" which i just find hilarious)

I think the studio I stayed in building 55 wasn't bad - great view of the steam - and I don't remember seeing the air condition units

I think they were on end close to the quiet pool - we have the view close to the path to DD.

Bldg 18 I have both views with air-condition and without - but it has been a while.

I can't imagine that EVERY studio at OKW is bad...

We haven't been "studio trash", yet ... but last month we were in unit 4625 (one bedroom). The adjacent studio most likely had the same view we did - of the Trumbo Canal. I believe the air conditioners were on the other side of the building. The bus stop was a short walk away.

I should note that we did[\I] have vegetation - Palm Trees, etc - near our balcony, but don't feel it was detrimental to the view. The trees just added to the tranquil, relaxed atmosphere (JMO, of course, YMMV)

i actually do like some pretty palm trees, but what worries me is i've heard people say things like "the trees were practically on the porch" or "palm tree overgrowing the balcony" or "our porch was a jungle", etc.
doesn't sound very pleasant...

We were in #56 last summer and I swear there was no jungle. I know if I leaned toward the right I could see the playground and the quiet pool. I think you could see "straight back" as well, although all there was to see was garden, flowers, etc. We actually loved this location. We had our van so I was glad to be off the bus route a bit and being right by a quiet pool was great. Us "studio trash" need to do laundry "out" so being close to the laundry room was good too. We are headed back next week and I would be thrilled if I could sweet-talk my way into building #56 again!

I think that most comments like the above are based on perspective and taste (much like favorite DVC is). We live in Maine on a wooded lot in the country. What we would consider barren, wide open and unattractive; someone else may consider to be their perfect landscape. We once had a vistor from Boulder, Colorado who got claustrophobic driving on our tree-lined Maine roads - he was used to viewing vistas miles away. We thought he was a little crazy...

Give OKW a chance, I'll bet you'll love it!

As a former OKW room assignor, the very best studios I can think of in the entire resort are 5510 and 5520. They are on the end of building 55 closest to the walkway to Downtown Disney. Open view of the Trumbo Canal and walkway, very quiet. Personally, if I were staying at OKW these are the rooms I would choose.

I stayed in bldg 27 in a studio and had a nice view of the golf course which is pretty standard at OKW. Studios are predominately on the ends of buildings and I wouldn't want the studio on the end of building 20 towards the road due to noise from the bus stop - but looking at buildings throughout OKW last month it looked to me like studios on Turtle Pond Road and buildfing 22 at the end of Miller's road would be both relatively quiet and have good views. It doesn't sound like you have been to OKW. If you are an owner I'd recommend really checking the place out next trip and finding out which areas might suit you best and then try those areas of the complex. Good luck to you.

Post them -- I am nosy too! I always wonder how WDW coordinates everything -- you look at all the buses that run, and all the miles of roads that are surrounded by mowed lawns and beautiful flowers -- it's mind-boggling to imagine how it all gets DONE! Please share your secrets.
