So is the Southwest 50,000 point deal dead?

I have read some threads today looking for the Southwest deal with 50,000 points. Found a link but when I search Google for the SW 50000 Deal Visa, all I come up with is a 25,000 deal now.

I don't want to apply under the impression that it's 50000 and then find out it's only 25000. Can anyone give a definitive answer to this? I read several threads and there seemed to be different thoughts.

There was news that it was going to be going away soon, so it's probably done now. They run the deals pretty regularly so you just have to be on the lookout for its return.

I think it is dead now, but seems to cycle back every few months. What I want to know is that if I cancel the card I got with 50K points in 2013, can I get 50K more points when they offer this up again? I did the personal in 2013 and got 50 K, the business in 2014 for 50 K. Wife got personal for 50 K, and looking at her to get the business one next offer. I have canceled the personal one in my name this week. Credit score is at 800+ so willing to let it drop a tad for this AMAZING deal. Have taken SOO many free flights with thi and want to continue the streak! Anyone able to cancel and re-apply and still get the promo 50 K???

If you call or read the terms, it will say you can't but some on this board have reported doing just that a few years in a row.

So to any more experienced discount shoppers out there, would it be better to just wait and see if it pops back up? Are there better cards to go with instead now? We are planning on going in early November. My wife and I could both sign up for a card to get combined 50,000 through SW (the deal is now 25K per card) but we need four round trip tickets and I don't know that it will cover it. Really kicking myself for not signing up two weeks ago. Didn't think this was a deal that would expire. Crap.

I was kinda wondering the same thing. I have a card in my name (got the 50,000 pts.) but my dh was going to get one. We waited too long and it went back to 25,000 pts. :sad2: So I'm wondering if they will offer it again, maybe in the next 6 months...or is that wishful thinking??

I would wait. THey had this offer last Sept and it ended in Oct. Then it came back at the beginning of the year and just ended last week. It pops up every so often so sit back and wait. 50K is better than the 25K

It does seem to come around regularly so you could wait. Another option is to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred visa with a 40,000 point bonus. These points transfer 1:1 to rapid rewards points so you would get 40,000 RR points. Not as good as the SW offer, but not bad if you don't want to wait.

I got the personal card in June 2013 and the business card in September 2013. It will come back around. Just sit tight

I just got an offer from delta for 50000 miles, but it will only get you 2 round trip tickets. Also says there's no fee for the first year. Has anyone had this card and used the free miles? I haven't flown with delta in ages but hey it's two free tickets!

do those points that you transfer count toward the companion pass 110000???

Yes, a few times. And let me tell you RARELY will 50000 get your 2 tickets on Delta. More often than not, one ticket is 35000-40000 miles. They do offer a pay with miles option, and each 10000 miles is worth $100, so the 50000 on a pay with miles offer is worth $500. Still not terrible, but it's almost impossible to get a trip for 25000 miles on Delta. But, they do waive the fee for the first year and cardholders get the first checked bag free, up to 9 people each time, so there is that.

SW has two different personal versions of this card and you can get the 50k on both cards plus their business card if you have a business. Check out what fee you paid to figure out the card you had. I believe the premier has a $99 fee and the other card has a $69 fee.

Don't forget Air Tran is now a part of SW so you can qualify for that card also!
