So is it really prime rib on the Boma Buffet?

I keep seeing conflicted reports of this and I am in search of the real answer. DH loves prime rib and we had planned on going to Turf Club for it. However, we are staying at AKV and would like to save the travel time and cost if Boma is just as good.

Add me in to the answer - I was hoping to get prime rib at the Yachtsmen. The dinner menu here on the DIS (dated 12/09) lists it, but it's not on the dinner menu on the Disney Dining site (which I'm assuming is the most current). What are my other options to get prime rib outside of a park (besides $$$$$ Shulas?)

They labelled it as prime rib when I was there in 2007 and it seemed pretty popular. Now, would I know a real prime rib if I was hit with it? No. But I assume it was. :goodvibes

It is more like roast beef. When I think "prime rib" I think of a thick steak. This is thinly sliced and not as rare. Still good, though.

I am a big steak (meat) eater and I would say you need to try Boma if you haven't. They have prime rib, and many other items to satisfy any taste. I always over indulge on their PR because it is always correctly prepared. If you like yours a little more done just ask. Their chefs will be more than happy to accomodate you. Just an FYI, I have never eaten PR or any other kind of meat that I could easily cut with a butter knife. That's how tender theirs is. Yummy :) just melts in your mouth.

No, it is no longer there, which is a real shame as it was WONDERFUL-- a real favorite mine. Now it is top round roast or (NY) strip roast.

The last two times I ate there the two main courses were Prime Rib and Salmon. They do rotate their offerings from what I hear but there is so much good food there it doesn't matter to me.

Ops, I didn't see this when I posted but that is even better. Top round is generally leaner than PR and I would prefer the leaner cut. Good news.

OK -I am going to give it a shot. The worst that can happen is that DH will still want to go to Turf Club and we will have to enjoy another great meal.:thumbsup2

I believe real Prime Rib was removed from WDW Buffets about year or two ago. In it's place is typically a sirloin roast or strip roast. IIRC, that's what is served at Bomas. It was delicious but not prime rib.

You will need to go to Maya Grill (Coronado), Olivia's (OKW), Boatwright's (Port Orleans - Riverside), or Turf Club (Saratoga Springs) for resorts that offer Prime Rib.

From every food critic review I've read in the past year or so, you are completely correct.

Many call it Prime Rib, but it's not real prime rib anymore.

There was absolutely no prime rib at the Yachtsman last summer, July '09.

We went to Boma in October 2009. There was a roast beef - definitely not prime rib.

Other stuff at Boma was better than the meat. Hummus, soups, desserts were better.

Thanks - I checked the dinner menus for all these restaurants on the Disney dining website. All (except Maya) do list prime rib entrees  I've been reading reviews and those for the Turf Club repeatedly mention how good the prime rib was, so I'm considering changing my Yachtsmen ressie to that!

One thing for sure forget reading the WDW web site it is never correct.Even the Park hours are all scewed up. Who ever is incharge of the web site sure don't know what they are doing. I always rely on the Dis and Allears.

I was really upset when I heard they removed Prime Rib from the menu (er, buffet) at Boma, but on our last visit I enjoyed the strip roast (or whatever it is) better. It's still seasoned the same way, which was the best part, but now it's a bit leaner and seems even more flavorful.

I don't think your DH will be disappointed. :thumbsup2
