So is it just me, or do the SW Ding!s pretty much suck these days?

The first time we flew SW (3 or 4 years ago), we got an amazing ding! from Manchester NH (MHT) to MCO--$49 or something. I stopped watching when we weren't planning (had a year when Airmiles worked for us), and now it seems like the dings never come up anymore. I haven't seen a single one from MHT to MCO, and the ones that do come up for either airport are usually mid-range flights (Chicago or Atlanta maybe) for $79 or more. THe sales seem better, but seem to be very short range (2-6 weeks in the future). Still probably the best game in town for us, with no change or baggage fees, but I'm disappointed.

But maybe it's just me? Are others getting good deals from SW, maybe from other airports?

Ya your right about the Dings! There are no big discounts like there used to be. I rarely see any to Orlando from Buffalo or Detroit. You are in NS so you fly out of Bangor, Portland or Boston as well right? Not much difference between Boston or Manchester. When are you travelling?

I think that U.S. carriers are simply charging more money these days - it's happening for us in the midwest as well :confused3 Maybe a sign that their economy is coming back;)

Webworm, we've flown out of the US from this coast 3 times I think, always from Manchester b/c it's such a great little airport. If we could get something good from Bangor, that would save us some time, but Portland, not so much. SW only flies from Manchester and Boston; I'm hopeful they might pick up Portland from Air Tran. I do keep an eye on those other airports as well, but definitely SW out of MHT is my first choice. (Did I mention I hate paying for my luggage? :snooty: And with kids in tow, it's going to be a while yet before we can make it with carry-on only again!) We are hoping for mid/late Feb. I always forget about--is it President's Day? That holiday that gives a rate blip in Feb. Confuses me! (Doesn't take much some days...)

You might want to consider flying into Tampa as well since it is just over 1 hr across the I4 to Orlando. I see a few flights with 1 stop from Manchester for $79.00 or $84.00. There are more options from Boston. We have done this before and Tampa is a very nice airport. Not as busy as Orlando either.
