So is August being left in the dust or what??

You know, we loved free dining last year. Who didn't?? It was our first time in WDW and we LOVED the world. We booked our Aug trip, with or without free dining, or awesome discount, we're going. To us, it would be great to get our trip for a better rate, but we're pleased with the rate we're paying. Who cares, we're going to DISNEY WORLD!! If free dining is offered, it will not be within our dates. I'm not too sure that we will change our dates. We already found flights at a good price, so I think that we may sit this "code watch" out. Y'all go later in August, eat for free. Hopefully, I'll have little crowds and time to enjoy the land that I love....

Patience OP, its still early. Let's give it until mid-April. Historically, Value Season discounts don't "show themselves" until that time. Unlike many opinions, I've only gone to WDW in AUGUST since 2001 and every year the attendance gets less and less. Last year (as I've stated on many of threads like this) I was in MK - and was pleasantly surprised at how "empty" the parks were. Between my whole family and I (it was 12 of us) we literally did the whole park together. We saw EVERY show and rode EVERY ride. Yes we were there ALL day, but with little or no wait at all. We dined without wait. We took time to people watch. Who can say they rode "Its a Small World" twice in a row, within 5 minutes of getting off the ride? I can!! How many of us travel to WDW and the longest wait time was 20 minutes (on Splash Mountain) - I can!!! How many of us can take half the family to a near by restroom while the other stands in line to ride something and have the family waiting on them as the exit the restroom – I did!!!!

Last year the crowds were really low. That is why, IMHO, Disney started Value Season so early. Yes this might make a few of us change dates a bit. But with MOST schools (not all – most) starting so early in August now, parents choose to vacation either earlier in the summer or later in the fall. They could have easily left early August as Regular season (yes I know about the "new summer" season). Disney saw their numbers fall. And Universal (although maybe not 'real' competition) has been offering some really nice 'deals'. All of that above to say, give it a couple weeks; I think we will all be pleased. :3dglasses

When we booked our May package, I went through AAA for the 15% expecting that I would not find a better discount than that. We knew how much $$ we had to spend on vacation and we booked with AAA within our budget. When the May codes came out a few weeks ago it was like icing on the cake. We ended up saving 35%. August is value season, so you are already getting the lowest rack rate prices available all year. Book through AAA so you at least get some discount, and then if something else comes along, it's an added bonus. If we hadn't got the extra 20%, it wouldn't have mattered because I was still going to Disney World!!!!

UHHHHHHHH......
Helllllooooooooooo!
Nothing for June or July either!! :sad2:
So don't feel "left out"!! At least you are getting value season rates!!!!
I am stuck with "summer" rates with just a skimpy AAA discount. :sad2:
So our stay is a bit shorter than normal and at a moderate instead of deluxe.
You'd think Disney would have learned by now that they will get their money one way or another...... why not make us "regular" visitors happy!! :thumbsup2

What days in August did you go last year? I'm going 10-17. Would love an "empty" MK!! :upsidedow

It is just too early yet. I never seem to get a discount code until about 60 days before we leave so I am sure something will come out in the next couple of months. I'm not so sure it will be free dining- but it should be something! popcorn::

A large discount would be lovely ;) . If we did qualify for the dining it would be costing us $140 extra per night for the four of us as compared to the AAA rate we have, I know we have to eat but we don't eat that much everyday, we would only do fine dining every few days.

You have a rate that is $140 off per night?

Rate is about $90 off per night plus we have to add the cost of the extra passes we will need. We are staying a the BCVs - 2 bedroom unit.

I agree, I was there Aug 3rd to 12th last year and the crowds were so manageable, we went to MK for an evening and saw most of what we wanted to see for our full day so we just rode everything again, it was very cool:goodvibes

Thank you - finally somebody else can see what I'm saying. Don't you think this is why Disney started Value Season so early this year?

That makes sense, since free dining began on August 13 last year. I think I remember reading on here that there were something like 2,000 checkins scheduled for that day at Pop Century alone.:scared1:

:thumbsup2 Maybe by offering value season rates, they enticed some of the late July crowd to come in early August instead. That, along with the bounceback crowd jumping on those first two weeks, may have increased the early August bookings. Hopefully, not to the point that it will knock the first two weeks of value season out of the running for a free dining or comparable offer to the general public (ie, ME, Miss No Bounceback, No Pin Code, Jane Q. Public.).
